LISA is a stat lab with a goal to increase the quantity and quality of statistics and data science applied to advance high-impact research at CU Boulder.
How can we teach collaboration in statistics and data science courses? I explain one way in this paper: "Using Team-Based Learning to Teach Data Science" https://t.co/bGdxxF4d78 @TBLearning@JStatEd
How do we develop data acumen within data scientists? Our approach is to teach data science from a humanities perspective: https://t.co/X3T7PI5rNN

Low- and middle-income countries lack access to big data analysis – here's how to fill the gap https://t.co/Aa5F0OaeO9 via @ConversationUS#LISA2020Day is today.
Here's a recent paper about lessons learned from @LISA__2020 published in @ChanceStatsMag: https://t.co/mRpER3aErJ
Stat labs should work on projects in the intersection of data production, data analysis, and data decision making.
We're celebrating #LISA2020Day today. It's the first anniversary of achieving our goal of creating a network of at least 20 stat labs in developing countries on 20 October 2020. Last year we had 28 statistics and data science collaboration labs. This year we have 35! @LISA__2020
This was one of several workshops conducted by @LISA__2020 and funded by @IntStat to build the capacity of women in statistics and data science during the #IYWSDS@RLadiesGlobal
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between @LISA_CUBoulder and @IntStat to support our mutual interest in building statistics and data science capacity through the @LISA__2020 program! https://t.co/AI46Y4GsTe

Great article celebrating Prof. Tinuke Adebanji, a pioneer in statistics and science! She uses her experiences and skills to teach other women #scientists how to advance in their careers. https://t.co/KwCfCPkoNW @KNUSTGH@LISA__2020@USAIDWestAfrica#IYWSDS
New world university rankings are out and @CUBoulder is ranked #57 in the world! This is a great university to be the hub for @LISA__2020 https://t.co/AG1pCPABkw

My only tweet of #JSM2018 is of these 5 PhD students sharing experiences about running or helping to run their stat labs. They stayed after @ervance's Workshop on Teaching Statistical Collaboration to share best practices.
Two of the finalists in 2013 for original LISA Fellow position meet for the first time in Japan at #ICOTS10. Carla Vivacqua from Brazil and Gen Sarte from the Philippines continuing to do great things for statistics education!
Speaking at @CUBoulder Admitted Students panel on Computing and Data at CU. Great questions from admitted students and their families about what's the right fit. For those wanting a strong background in math and why stat methods work, I recommend the new Stat and Data Science BA.
Exciting statement from @AmstatNews on evaluating statistics faculty excellence

Their distinction: "Consulting is an isolated activity geared toward solving a technical statistical issue. Collaboration is a partnership to solve a scientific problem."
#AU-LISSDA @LISA__2020 workshop trained researchers in LaTeX to write scholarly articles. Anchor U. VC Prof J.O. Afolayan said: For Nigerian academicians to be globally relevant, we must be ready for rigorous training that will birth quality research of global standard. #StatsToo
Congratulations to Kassahun Trueha and the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Statistics at Wolkite University in Ethiopia for launching their Statistical Consultancy and Collaboration Center, the 8th stat lab in the growing @LISA__2020 Network!
