On Friday our students were gripped during assemblies by our guest speaker @BenHeason. He was the first man to climb Angel Falls in Venezuela, exemplifying our values of Ambition , Stamina and Grit. #mountaintosuccess
📚The DfE updated their Reading Framework this week to include guidance for KS2 and KS3. 📝I've made a summary of the new sections which I hope is useful.

There had been some discussion of the Teach Like A Champion technique SLANT this weekend, with it being described by @PhilBeadle as a ‘crude technique of coercion’.
Pleased to report that our reading interventions @LexonikST have helped students make gains on average of around 13 months across years 7-9. Our biggest gains were in year 8 who have made a staggering 30 month gain. Currently researching fluency strategies to support next leap.
So proud of our Secondary SLT, teachers and support staff who supported our pupils so brilliantly to achieve these exceptional results. The most disadvantaged school in the town it top for both attainment and progress!
High impact classroom techniques on a number of levels -not only for building belonging but also think ratio. Habits of discussion when used well can also support the development of students writing- something that is a work in progress at SA! Great share.
