Remembering Ruby @KindlyLoudly

This week the LEGEND group took some time out in memory of Ruby, on what would have been her 25th Birthday to share some chocolate cake.

We are immensely grateful for support from Ruby's Fund, and aim to continue her legacy through our work❤️

Last month @LetiziaM24 gave an introduction to our research to the team at Leica Biosystems. It was a great opportunity to share our work, discuss our research and exchange ideas. Thank you to @LeicaBio and Children's Cancer North for the invitation and the engaging discussions!

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

Delighted to share that LEGEND Group Leader, Lisa Russell, has been promoted to Professor of Cancer Epigenomics! 🎉🧬

A milestone built on hard work, dedication, an amazing team, awesome support — and a healthy dose of good fortune.

Excited for what comes next! 🔬

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

On #WorldCancerResearchDay, the group embraced #gold to support Children's Cancer North initiative #PaintTheToonGold to raise awareness for #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth.
Our efforts go beyond the lab when it comes to support #CancerResearch 🧬🧡

This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we stand alongside patients, families, clinicians and researchers working towards a future where blood cancers are detected earlier, treated and ultimately prevented
Every discovery starts with research at the bench.

We’re glad to have participated in the 23rd CLR-UK Annual Meeting in Nottingham! It was a great opportunity to share our research, contribute to organising the meeting, exchange ideas, and network with fellow scientists working in childhood leukaemia research.

A multicultural lab group comes with so many advantages! We don’t only share valuable ideas and different prospective, but we also get to share traditional food and learn about each other's cultures.
Thanks @AAsayadi for introducing us to Arabic coffee and sharing sweet treats

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

This week @Dr_AhlamQ has been preparing DNA for long-read sequencing. Historically, DNA is broken into 'chunks' to read the code. Long-read sequencing is newer technology for deciphering much longer stretches of DNA, providing in-depth information about leukaemia genetics.

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

Proud supervisor moment for Nick & @LetiziaM24 attending the MResPoster session and supporting Lucy and Kunwoo, amazing intercalating medics who worked with @LJRussell_Lab over the last 5 months on their research project. Best luck and AD MAIORA!

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

Great conference this week, filled with inspiring talks and poster presentations from @NU_Cancer researchers. Congratulations to our PhD students, @phoebe__snow & @AAsayadi, recipients of PGR Outstanding Contribution Awards in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

@LetiziaM24 represented the LEGEND group
at the 'Young Researchers Chromatin Club' seminar series by @activemotif

Leti presented exciting research progress, using multiple chromatin profiling methods to understand genetic regulation in leukaemia.

[LJ Russell Lab @LJRussell_Lab]

Thanks to Martin Newham for visiting the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre and capturing the LEGEND team at work in the lab — including our data scientists!
Looking forward to sharing some of the photos on social media soon #ChildhoodCancerResearch #DataScience
