Some of our students have been let down by adults in their life.
When they don’t automatically trust you from the beginning, try not to take it personally; often times has nothing to do with you.
Be patient. It can take time... sometimes a lot of time before trust can be built.
Elementary teachers boggle my mind. How do they think of these tricks, like putting painter's tape on tables for space issues?? Sometimes 7th graders still need this guidance.
I’d love to see a #school that intentionally designs a schedule where teachers get to observe other teachers on a regular basis.
So often there’s magic happening next door and down the hall and we don’t even know it.
Lesson plans are important, and pedagogy matters… but some of the most important work of teachers, might not be captured by a plan. When teachers encourage, support, inspire, care about, and connect with their students… they are engaged in work that transcends the “plan.”
I LOVE administrators that have these 6 Qualities...
1) Empathetic
2) Kind
3) Accountable
4) Hard Working
5) Trusting
6) Patient

If you don't think you have time to build great relationships with students, keep track of the time you spend tracking down negative behaviors. You have time! ⏰ -@thierck
