Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.
In many countries, World Communications Day is being marked today, whose theme this year I have chosen as “Preserving Human Voices and Faces.” In this era of artificial intelligence, I encourage everyone to commit themselves to promoting forms of communication that always respect the truth of the human person, on which every technological innovation should be focused. https://t.co/q5SF19caCW
Even Catholics are turning to AI chatbots for advice, comfort, and “love.” Find out the potential risks of turning to AI instead of loved ones in this NEW episode of the Love Means More Podcast. (Link in replies)
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has recommended against gender transition surgeries for youths, becoming the first major medical association in the U.S. to narrow its guidance on pediatric gender care. https://t.co/yeR4zviNVM
"By simulating human voices and faces, wisdom and knowledge, consciousness and responsibility, empathy and friendship, the systems known as artificial intelligence... encroach upon the deepest level of communication, that of human relationships."
In his message for the 60th World Day of Social Communications, Pope Leo XIV highlights the importance of ensuring that technological innovation, particularly artificial intelligence, serves the human person rather than replacing or diminishing human dignity.

Friends, I would like to take the occasion of my departure from USCCB chairmanship to tell you a bit about what the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth has accomplished the last three years.

@rSanti97 This results in a total of over 1,000 girls disproportionately killed or permanently frozen, compared to what would be expected with a natural sex ration.

@rSanti97 "..., and the use of preimplantation genetic testing specifically for elective sex selection had a substantially higher (164) male/female sex ratio..."

We recently added a section of our website on a related issue. When parents screen for any genetic traits, girls are the ones who are disproportionately killed or frozen, at the rate of at least 1,000 per year.
The next big ethical crisis is here:
Parents can now choose which of their unborn children gets to live—based on looks, sex, or predicted health.
It’s called “embryo selection.”
Here’s why it should trouble all of us 🧵
Love in marriage is more than physical attraction—it is a daily choice to seek the good of one’s spouse. It can be expressed through words, thoughtful gestures, prayer, and time spent together. In the ordinary moments of life, love reveals itself—whether through sharing a meal, offering encouragement, or simply being present.
The methods of Natural Family Planning cultivate this holistic love. By encouraging open communication about fertility and family planning, NFP strengthens emotional intimacy and fosters greater respect and cooperation between spouses.
As spouses discern God’s will for their marriage and family life, they may decide to postpone pregnancy for “well-grounded reasons [. . .] arising from the physical or psychological condition of husband or wife, or from external circumstances” (HV, 16). In such circumstances, a husband and wife will have times of sexual abstinence during the wife’s fertile window. These periods of sexual abstinence are opportunities to strengthen sacrificial and self-giving love while supporting spiritual and emotional growth.
