The Obama Presidential Center opens to the general public on Juneteenth after a celebratory dedication in Chicago with dignitaries. The roughly $850 million project covers both the political and personal realms of the nation’s first Black president.
As President, I would read 10 letters a day sent to me by ordinary Americans. At the Obama Presidential Center, we’ll have some of the letters I read — and responded to — every night. I still get emotional reading them, and it’s one of my favorite exhibits.
Some good news today.
South Carolina has chosen NOT to move forward with gerrymandering for the time being.
AND a court has blocked Alabama’s gerrymander.
The fight continues. But these small victories are important.
Keep the faith.
Keep posting this so people don’t forget how truly bad this event was.
Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking it was peaceful and worthy of 1500+ pardons and slush fund payoffs.
Holy sh*t, Hakeem Jeffries DID NOT hold back, calling for a MAJOR overhaul, saying the White House is now "a trump cartel... an organized crime entity," slamming trump's ballroom, $1.8B slush fund, and Stock trades.
He is 100% right.
It's time to clean house!
We still haven’t had a real hearing on the rise of white supremacist violence, the lives lost, or the extremist groups empowered by dangerous Republican rhetoric.
But somehow, Republicans found time to hold a hearing claiming the Southern Poverty Law Center is “manufacturing hate.”
Meanwhile, they’re defending an almost $2 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund that could put money in the pockets of January 6 extremists — including people tied to white supremacist groups that attacked our democracy.
Y’all can miss me with the performative outrage.
The NAACP has filed a lawsuit alleging Tennessee’s new congressional map intentionally discriminates against Black voters by dismantling the state’s only majority-Black district. Our right to fair representation was paid for with blood, sacrifice, and generations of struggle. We cannot allow political games to silence Black voices or weaken Black voting power. https://t.co/n29tx0D50d
Instead of trying to earn more votes, Republican officials across the South are executing a systematic effort to dismantle Black political representation in Congress through gerrymandering.
It's time for broad reforms to end this kind of gerrymandering for good.
.@SenMarkKelly: "Last year, I said something that the President didn't like…That service members need to follow the law … The President said I should be prosecuted and hanged. Then he tried to throw me in jail…I can't think of anything that's more un-American."
State supreme court justices play a critical role in defending your rights and freedoms, which is why the election happening in Georgia right now is so important.
Make sure you have a plan to vote for Jen Jordan and Miracle Rankin, the only two candidates in the race with strong records of standing up for all Georgians.
Early voting is already underway and Election Day is May 19th. Find out where you can vote at https://t.co/OHJnsHnuiB.
