The backbone of DeFi, NFTs, and increasingly — the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). From treasuries to real estate, Ethereum is becoming the main infrastructure for bringing traditional finance on-chain.
L2s have improved scalability and fees significantly, but competition from other chains is real.

The future potential:
If Ethereum continues executing well (better L2 experience, stronger institutional adoption, and leading the RWA narrative), it has a strong chance of remaining the settlement layer of the entire crypto economy.
Network effects, security, and developer dominance are extremely powerful moats.
