Yesterday we delivered a session on emotions and how they can influence behaviour to a Y6 class. One of the tasks was labelling how emotions feel in our body and these are some of the fab examples from this activity! Very excited to deliver the next few sessions😁#twittereps
1) This is what's happening right now
2) I'm doing the best I can
3) I am separate from thoughts and feelings
4) A deeper self can observe what's happening without being sucked into it
5) I know my values
6) I don't need to feel good to get going; I need to get going to feel good
More accurately, 100% of children cannot learn to read just by learning phonics. Repeat after me: knowledge of sound-spelling correspondences and related phonemic skills are necessary but not sufficient for fluent reading.
If you're feeling a little anxious right now, try going through your senses:
Name...
1 thing you can taste
2 things you can smell
3 things you can hear
4 things you can touch
5 things you can see
Going through your senses can help ground you in this moment.
ACT in simple terms: Be open, aware, & active
1. Open up to experience with self-kindness and without avoidance or clinging
2. Notice thinking in flight
3. Notice yourself noticing
4. Attend in a flexible way
5. Choose intrinsic values
6. Build and broaden values-based habits

How can teachers be this shattered at this stage of term 1? Somethings got to give. Leaders in education - save the profession NOW before too many are lost this academic year. Reduce workload, strip accountability back, sort behaviour.
This is a great technique shared by WholeHearted School Counseling that teaches children as to how they can stay #grounded. This can help them to remain calm and cope with their #emotions more effectively.
This is a great reminder that there is always more to behaviours than what meets the eye - what appears to be anger might actually be a combination of other emotions. Credit: Whole Hearted School Counselling #edutwitter
