@Amelia97Johnson@steppproject@SustDev Great response! To me sustainability would be savouring all living things- flora and fauna (humans included) ensuring that all eco systems are clean and in as much as a natural state as possible
When we hear #sustainability we often just think reducing plastic etc but covers so much more such as tree plantations. This short video goes through some of those in a really interesting, fun way.https://t.co/IvTrPlffCL When you hear #sustainability what do you think? #UoNTeach
@Amelia97Johnson@Aus_Gardening@steppproject Great choice!! By looking at a topic such as plant over processed- the different foods grown and then researching nutritional values compared to other junk type foods not grown but manufactured
The KLA science will perfectly fit into my school gardening project. Hitting the content strand “Living World” which can be fit to every stage from ES1 to S3. Gardening projects can branch in many different directions, what KLA would you incorporate? #UoNTeach
Some really interesting statistics provided and so true! By coming together as a community we can achieve so much. I would love to challenge every community to take on a challenge like this, be great to also get the community together #UoNTeach
If everyone of Australia’s 25,334,594 people planted 2 native plants each, per year for 10 years, that would be an extra 506,691,760 carbon sucking, biodiversity promoting and health improving contributions to society. Totally achievable. We just need a native revolution.
Hands on learning is definitely my number one! This is such a great idea to incorporate it into the snacks kids eat, for e.g. building structures out of toothpicks and apples! Simple yet effective #UoNTeach
@Mikaela00536816 This is an amazing idea for a lesson! Giving those hands on connections really allows for students to make wider connections in real life situations
The Dreaming is so important and crucial to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples culture. In my school project I would love to create a space where the Dreaming stories can be shared and appreciated #UoNTeach
We live in a world where food is so easily accessible and can be flown, shipped or delivered by truck to our doorsteps. But as stated by @CivilEats its time to make our food more local, whether that's growing in your own garden or buying from a local farmers market #UoNTeach
“I don’t see a huge distinction, whether we’re talking about community gardens, home gardens, or school gardens—we just really need to localize our food and include more people in these relocalized food systems.” https://t.co/BkC0wIfMCK
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have so much care & knowledge for this country & have done for centuries. Their ways of living and caring for the environment need to valued and taken seriously by the wider community to ensure a #sustainable future for all #UoNTeach
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been caring for this country for over 65,000 years and will continue to care for and protect its wildlife today and every day.

Dolan (2015) looks at the importance of learning outside of the classroom in the physical world. Students can touch, feel and learn with physical materials and environments. This concept of outdoor learning will be the main focus for my upcoming school project #UoNTeach
@ang3274589 recommended an online resource https://t.co/5gThgtUZDz couldn’t help but reshare,it’s an amazing resource, looks at nature through an Aboriginal lens with the incorporation of science. Also has outdoor activities & real life excursions to the national parks #UoNTeach
Dr Seuss wrote this book about a plastic world without trees, looks at the journey of finding and bringing back nature. This resource will spark students imagination, imagining the what if’s and the effects of extinction which can be transferred into our world #UoNTeach
What a great idea!! Students will definitely build on their research skills through a task like that, as well as ability to work and present in groups. Love it!
I’m wanting to create an Indigenous garden that incorporates native plants for both eating and medicine within a school context. This article is fantastic in showing all the different plants and purposes and how important they are to our land #UonTeach
Tiktok has become really popular in the last few months. I think it would be a fantastic resource to integrate into the classroom. Students can film short clips to record their progress in different tasks and projects and even attempt a fun dance to keep it exciting #UoNTeach
@Amelia97Johnson@KathrynBooth@MJHooker @NewLambtonPS https://t.co/0N6rMtGWsW this is a great website to start students off with researching, when they are first unpacking what sustainability is.
@Amelia97Johnson@BeckieDiLeo@Supt196 @leisa_claxton 100% agree! And students can take home what they have learnt and implement sustainable practices at home teaching their families create a domino effect
