@LNightingale24 This is cool! This would be great to include in a classroom! Could almost work as a reward system as well, or as a fundraising activity instead of a Cadbury chocolate fundraiser!
@LNightingale24@KathrynBooth@MJHooker @NewLambtonPS Oh thanks for this! Sustainability is such a big concept for students to grasp so this will definitely help and be used in my unit!
@BShaw54695459@steppproject@SustainVic@BigPic_EducAust I love this resource, thank you! I think knowing how to reduce our plastic use is so important, just as important as knowing how to recycle and repurpose plastic that has already been produced!
@AmyMari84473950 How do you think you’ll ensure these benefits in a pdhpe lesson?
I think keeping a pdh reflective journal for students would be a great way to assess their psychological, emotional and social well-being and experience towards pdh! What do you think?
@LNightingale24@steppproject@aplastic_planet I think looking at global issues like sustainability would be a great start! Unpacking huge concepts like this in a way that is relevant and purposeful to students would be how I would undertake this idea!
@LNightingale24@ReplasProducts If resources allowed for it, I’d love for students to listen to this with headphones on personal iPads! This way, I can take a small group of students that may be require extra assistance and work with them whilst everyone is listening individually!
@LNightingale24 Hands on activities is such a fun way to learn! This is also such a relatable lesson for real life beyond school! How would you link this to theoretical learning?
@LNightingale24 You could even get students to partake in focus groups and allocate a plant to each group and they can present their findings to the whole class!
@LNightingale24 @prime7tv Oh this is great video that I could use in my unit to get students to start thinking critically and creatively in relation to how to repurpose plastic! Incorporating ICT is such a great way to retain engagement in a lesson!
@AmyMari84473950 We are collaborating with a local business called @ReplasProducts! We are providing them with soft plastics and also a design for a playground or fitness equipment (students choice) & they are using their knowledge & technologies to transform the plastic into these resources!
@AmyMari84473950 I’m planning to have students in groups to design and draw a playground or a fitness equipment set to be made by our recycled plastics! Having students network in small groups & brainstorm ideas is a great starting point to begin collaborating in my classroom! What do you think?
@AmyMari84473950 Even better- you could film the games being executed and ask students to film themselves giving a brief overview and post it on the school Facebook page! Therefore all families can play these games at home as well!
@AmyMari84473950 That would be great! Imagine having a group of students organise a fitness program for each week and rotating the groups around across a term and having the rest of the class and the teacher perform the program! What a way to incorporate a student centred and regulated unit!
@AmyMari84473950 I love reading aloud to kids no matter their age! Its always an easy way to regain their attention and improve engagement especially if the book is of relevance to their lives!
@AmyMari84473950 I loved it! I followed my passion for PE into a sport science degree, then into a teaching degree specialising in PDHPE! Not everyone will love PE but if teachers allow for inclusion & provide equitable chance for success, Ss are less likely to associate PE with bad experiences!
@semiyemichael That is great! I’m currently doing a university assignment where I am creating a project for my class to do around sustainability with the involvement of the community! So these hashtags will be great to find more information and ideas, thanks!
@LNightingale24@NACCHOAustralia@ABCIndigenous@HealthInfoNet @NIYECMob https://t.co/v4AoEE3JnQ This website is great to categorise Native Australian plants with an Indigenous perspective into their uses and also shows where they are most readily available across Australia. Check it out, I think it will be a great asset!
