I’ve seen others describe what has been going on in Puerto Rico with their Bankruptcy process as “piracy,” and I couldn’t agree more. What has been happening should be illegal.

For instance, take David Brownstein. David worked for Citi Bank on the Puerto Rico restructuring, but then he started his own boutique firm called BGC Partners Advisory, and now has his own personal contract to assist with Puerto Rico’s bankruptcy. His new contract is a whopping $850,000 per MONTH!

$850,000 a month is nearly $28,000 a DAY! The average Puerto Rican makes only $718 a week (about $35K a year). 

David Brownstein is paid EVERY DAY what the average Puerto Rican makes in a full year....paid for by the people of Puerto Rico — the very people he is supposed to be helping!

The failure of lawyers and consultants to resolve the bankruptcy of Puerto Rico has left the people of Puerto Rico without power, or a path forward.

This is a colossal failure all around. Every single one of these lawyers and consultants need to be fired, and a new Board needs to be installed to clean up this mess.

President Trump has the power to fire Puerto Rico’s Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) and replace it with a new board.

He should. This has been a massive waste of money.

The board has spent over $2 BILLION on consultants and lawyers throughout the 10 year bankruptcy process, which is more than 5X the cost estimated by Congress.

Two. Billion. Dollars. 😳😳😳 Straight into the pockets of elite consultants and law firms.

Unbelievable.

With monthly salaries like this, why would any lawyer want to help solve the Puerto Rican bankruptcy? 😅😅🤡

It was too depressing to write this last night, after we got off air, so I went to bed. But, it needs to be said by more Democrats: this was not an impeachable offense, and Trump did not need congressional approval for one precision attack under the circumstances, just as Obama did not when striking Bin Laden. Why can’t our Party just say it’s great we achieved the objective and destroyed Iran’s nuclear sites, god bless the soldiers who carried this out and made it home safely, god bless our country, military, allies, and we look forward to a full intel briefing. 🇺🇸. If one must then assert Congressional authority at the moment, add that any escalation will require congressional approval. And if you must, express concern for where this may go and what might come next.
