@dubasworshiper I was in favor of tear it down bc the rebuild could have been quick. This was a great draft year. If you 'sell the team' you get a number of firsts plus some solid prospects just for Auston and Willy, so we would have had an even bigger haul than what we got. Playoffs in 1-2 yrs
@SkatingScores For me, Yuna became the most watchable singles skater in the sport last year.
So while I do expect a number of strong programs this year, I expect very few to be at her level.
@Oct7NeverForget If Russia invades Finland then NATO kicks in and decimates the country in a matter of hours. Outside of nukes, the country has no manpower or equipment.
@TalkeyHockey Hard pass. The trade value goes down immediately when a player says they want out and will only go to short list of teams. This is why both Larkin and Rielly will take a minute. Teams will offer less back than expected.
@LeafsPapi_ We could do Knies and our first from COL next year. Not sure that would be enough compared to what some other teams could offer. Giving up any more would subtract too much.
@matsleafs I can't see him wanting to come/stay in Toronto. We'd have to be closer to a Cup. SJ has an embarassment of riches up front to trade for a guy like this. Hard to compete with teams like that.
@TalkeyHockey SJ trading for D more likely I think. Great fit for Rangers. Knies for 5OA and Trochek is my bet, with maybe some calibrating pieces. Possibly not until the Rangers pick so they know who is available.
@FacelessHockey@TalkeyHockey His spot as second line RD (and then eventually swap with Raddysh) but not necessarily his role. Tanev can play his role on the 3rd pair or be replaced. Point is, he's not filling a gaping hole at this very moment.
@nylanderthews Wouldn't put it past some teams to hold out as long as possible then trade just before or during the draft. And then again right before FA opens. The Chicago trade and rising cap has GMs scrambing to recalibrate the market. Gonna take a minute.
@JamesMelville England. If it's not them, I want an upset - these things are too predictable. So, no Spain, Argentina, France, Brazil....or USA, even if that's an upset.
@JacobPacheco6 Gaby has been quietly raking since being dumped in 2023 prior to joining with Erin. She found the necessary perspective to play more freely. I'm sure her cancer experience gave additional perspective and feelings of gratitude for the sport. Hope she gets to #1 before retiring.
@TalkeyHockey Could totally see this. SJ holding out for a #1 D - if they can't get it I think they'd come to us last minute.
Could also be more complicated: Toronto sends Knies to NYR for 5OA and Trochek. Flips 5OA and Rielly or Carlo to SJ for 2OA. SJ packages 5 and 9OA for more D.
