As Libertarians, we oppose the sky-high taxation that is ruining California. As a result, the statewide propositions we endorse are 41, 42, and 43.

[Avens O'Brien @avensobrien]

Cannabis legalization & drug legalization have much bigger substance than "people just want to get high" or bodily autonomy arguments.

The drug war is a colossal failure that increases the surveillance apparatus and the police/carceral state, has cost us over a trillion dollars, and has separated a lot of parents from their families and generally has been harmful on families and communities in general.

It has also impacted foreign policy including US interference in elections in other places, impacted the economies of other countries and has caused us to deal with an influx of immigrants escaping poverty or violence caused by cartels which are empowered by US drug laws.

It's also part of the racket of government seizure of assets - civil asset forfeiture & the ways the government increasingly forces paper trails of money, to extract taxes and track how people spend their money.

So people can complain that weed or drug legalization is about people wanting to get high - but every single person in this country (and in much of the world) is impacted in extremely negative ways by the drug war.

Advocacy for ending it is so much bigger than the basic bodily autonomy issue of people having the right to put what they want in their bodies. It impacts public domestic and foreign policy, taxpayers, police and government intrusion on our private lives, surveillance, safety, communities, and more.

Official Statement from the Libertarian Party

The Libertarian Party does not condone calls for political violence or the initiation of force.

The organization in New Hampshire currently making violent extremist comments is not affiliated with the Libertarian Party and does not speak for our party.

The Libertarian National Committee disaffiliated that organization in May. The Libertarian Party Judicial Committee later unanimously rejected its appeal.

The official Libertarian Party affiliate recognized in New Hampshire is @GraniteStateLP.

The Non-Aggression Principle is a fundamental core of libertarianism. It is not optional, and it is central to what our party stands for.

All members of the Libertarian Party are required to take the Libertarian Party Membership Pledge:

“I hereby certify that I oppose the initiation of force as a means of achieving political or social goals.”

Political and social change must be pursued through peaceful, voluntary means — not violence, threats, or aggression.

The reckless and unconstitutional war in Iran has been a total disaster and has spiked the cost of gas for Californians to an insane level.

[KTLA @KTLA]

KTLA’s Sarah Welch reports live from East L.A. as gas and diesel prices continue to climb across California. Diesel has reached nearly $9 a gallon at some stations, far above the national average. The spike is being driven by factors including crude oil prices, drone attacks and wars, with higher fuel costs affecting everything from groceries to trucking and other consumer goods and services.

So many words have been written about September 11 over the last 25 years. We are told to “never forget” again and again. But what exactly are we supposed to remember? It isn’t the way the country came together in the months after the 9/11 terror attacks, putting aside political differences and remembering the spirit of freedom and Liberty that unites us as Americans. It isn’t the promises to repeal the Patriot Act, never to abuse FISA courts, and that the War on Terror would be fast. It isn’t the baseless accusations used to justify an invasion of Iraq, or the hundreds of thousands of people who died in that war.

“Never forget” is a rallying cry designed to take away all of the great things about this country, and remind us of the fear that the government uses to divide us and insert itself into every aspect of our lives. So yes, never forget what actually binds us together - the spirit of freedom and Liberty. We were told that the terrorists hate us for our freedom, and they wanted to take it away. In an era of rampant financial intrusion, mass surveillance online, an infrastructure of cameras to track your every move, legislation that mandates kill switches and requires cars to report on your driving, free speech infringements online and in real life, and so much more government overreach, it seems that the terrorists might be achieving that goal.
