Today our parents surprised our entire staff with ready to bake dinner for our first day of school. 🩷🙌😭 I can’t even.
This is the most thoughtful gift. Sharing for anyone who is looking for ideas on how to love on a teacher at the beginning of a school year.
When I walk in a school, I don’t just observe to see if front office or teachers are happy. I observe custodians, cafeteria workers, everyone. Because building positive school culture means everyone is valued & appreciated. And if the custodians are happy, everyone is happy.
If a school staff feel seen, heard, known, loved, and valued, they will ultimately be empowered to do the same for their students.
As @EmilyAPaschall says, “When teachers are supported, kids are supported. It’s as simple as that."
That is the culture we want in our schools.
Education is not student centered, but it is relationship centered. Principals who build relationships with teachers will get their best & teachers who build relationships with students will get their best.
If you don't think morale is important, remember that a teachers working environment is the students learning environment. Support, encouragement, and appreciation create a dynamic classroom for learning.
For teachers to be “All In” in 2023 doesn’t mean they have to be at school til 7 every night. Doesn’t mean they need to take school work home with them every night. Doesn’t mean they need to work every weekend w/ planning or grading. This isn’t All In, this is Burned Out.
