Want to build a carbon-negative house?
@Complex_Mat & others @ETH_Materials are creating living materials to do so. I had a great time seeing their labs, sharing our work & enjoying mushroomy fondue 😋
Thanks @rafaellibanori & @studart_andre for inviting me
Had a wonderful time attending the EMBO Synthetic Biology practical course. The mix of inspiring scientific lectures and cutting edge practical modules kept us on our toes the entire week. Thanks to all the trainers and organizers for the smooth execution @EMBLEvents#EMBOSynbio
As this is one of our main research topics @Leibniz_INM, the session also had inspiring talks from our enthusiastic PhD students @Vrunvrun3@marcblanch94 and Lara on living alginate PEARLs and contact lenses

Excited to hear from rising PhD stars at the Living Therapeutic Materials session ! 🌟 Varun Tadimarri & Marc Blanch Asensio presented their Lactobacilli-based project, 'PEARL'. Lara Teruel Enrico discusses her published work on 'Self lubricating Living Contact Lens'. #ELM24
The last EIC #ELMs project to present this morning in Saarbrucken is Bio-HhOST. They’re integrating artificial cells with organoids for a hybrid approach to direct and control organoids.
A much-needed coffee break here at Aula, filled with mind-stimulating conversations between emerging researchers and well-known experts in the field of ELMs.

Neel Joshi from @Northeastern gave a brilliant overview of how ELMs can be advanced for future generations and their wide-ranging applications. 🌱 Prof. Dr. Aránzazu del Campo, CEO of INM, also shared why INM is a key center for ELM research with a rich history. #ELM24
Just had two incredible talks! 🎤 Phil Ayres from @RoyalAcadDK shared insights on the "Fungateria Project" and the challenges of building ELMs. 🌱 Then, Achim Weber's fascinating talk about #LoopOfFun project, exploring 3D printing for mycelium-based bioinks! 🧫 #ELM24
The opening EIC session at the 4th International Engineered Living Materials Conference is off to a great start! The auditorium is packed, and we're in for a day of fascinating scientific talks at Aula in Campus of Saarland University. Excited for all the insights ahead. #ELM2024
We've got 4 days of Engineered Living Materials starting with the @spp2451 consortium kick-off meeting that was inspiring and fun. We presented our project and came up with ideas for possible ELM merchandise 😁
@Leibniz_INM
Meet PEARL! We encapsulated lactobacilli in alginate beads, and they are secreting recominant proteins like pros! 🧬🧫
