JUST IN: YouTuber Trevor Jacob, the man who jumped out of an airplane that crashed in California, has been sentenced to federal prison.

In 2021, Jacob took off to fly to Mammoth and claims his plane malfunctioned mid-flight.

Jacob, an experienced pilot and skydiver, then ejected out of the plane and skydived to safety as the plane crashed.

Investigators determined that Jacob planned the whole stunt and lied by claiming that the plane had a full loss of power.

"[Jacob] exercised exceptionally poor judgment in committing this offense. [Jacob] most likely committed this offense to generate social media and news coverage for himself and to obtain financial gain. Nevertheless, this type of ‘daredevil’ conduct cannot be tolerated," prosecutors said.

Jacob was sentenced to six months in federal prison.

Saguaro cacti are slowly dying as Phoenix, AZ, has seen 25 straight days of temperatures over 110°F as of July 26.

The plants, which are tolerant of heat and drought, typically cool off at night or when sprayed with mist. But evening temperatures haven’t dropped below 90°F. Cacti in the desert also rely on summer monsoon rains, which Arizona has yet to see this year.

‘These plants are adapted to this heat, but at some point the heat needs to cool down and the water needs to come,’ Tania Hernandez, a cactus scientist at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, told Reuters. ‘Plants can hold on during the whole dry season for this wet season to arrive, but they just can hold so long, right? And if the rain doesn't arrive on time, the plant starts suffering for internal damage.’
