Cambodia strongly condemns the illegal destruction of sacred temples and shrines by Thai soldiers on Cambodian sovereign territory.
Buddhist pagodas.
Shiva’s Takrabei Temple.
Statues of Vishnu.
These are sacred sites—not decorations.
Thailand must be held accountable.
Cambodia has condemned the Thai army for demolishing a Hindu Vishnu statue in a disputed border area after more than two weeks of fighting between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to Cambodian officials in Preah Vihear, the statue was built in 2014 and stood several hundred meters inside Cambodian territory in the An Ses area. It was destroyed on December 22 using a backhoe loader. Video of the demolition circulated widely on Thai social media and was independently verified, with no signs of manipulation.
Cambodia says the statue was a religious site worshipped by Buddhist and Hindu followers and has accused Thai forces of damaging multiple cultural sites along the border during the clashes. Thailand has not commented on the incident and continues to say its operations only target military objectives.
By that logic, this Hindu statue was definitely a military target.
What is Thai’s religion? 🇹🇭 Thailand is secular
Has no religion. Cambodia strongly condemns the illegal destruction of ancient temples and shrines by Thai soldiers on the sovereign territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia!
- Buddhism Pagoda (Buddhist religion)
- Takrabei Temple dedicated to "Shiva" (Brahmin religion)
- Statue of "Vishnu" (Brahmin religion).
All ancient temples and statues in Cambodia were built as sacred places, not for decoration. Thailand must be held responsible for its actions!

The Thai military’s aggression against Cambodia has included the use of heavy artillery that damaged Buddhist temples, the bombing of Ta Krabei Temple and Preah Vihear Temple, and, most recently, the destruction of a statue of the god Vishnu. These sites are sacred places of worship and spiritual significance for Buddhists, Hindus, and followers of other faiths. For the true custodians of this heritage, witnessing such devastation brings profound sorrow and anguish beyond comparison. Those who are not the rightful owners, however, have shown no compassion for these religious structures or for the cultural and spiritual heritage they embody. They cheered and applauded while deliberately destroying and desecrating these sacred places of worship and religious faith. #ThailandViolatestheceasefire #India #Hindu #Buddhism

Preah Vihear Temple is recognized worldwide and known as Cambodia's
World Heritage site listed under UNESCO, yet it has ended up being destroyed by Thai soldiers. Justice
must be upheld for Cambodia.

It seems that Thailand is deliberately harming the World Heritage site, and this behavior is unacceptable. I sincerely hope @UNESCO condemns these actions against Preah Vihear Temple.

Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts solemnly condemns the destructive attacks carried out by the Thai military against Ta Krabey Temple, a sacred cultural site of Cambodia. This reprehensible act reflects profound immorality and demonstrates a blatant disregard for culture, civilization, and the sacred heritage that forms part of the shared legacy of humanity, especially the priceless cultural patrimony built and preserved by Khmer ancestors.
“The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts calls upon all national and international bodies, particularly UNESCO, the ASEAN community, relevant institutions, organizations, associations, and all individuals dedicated to the protection of humanity’s heritage, to unequivocally condemn these actions and to urge the Thai military to immediately cease all acts of destruction. National and international intervention is urgently required, as the Thai military has continued indiscriminate attacks on multiple locations, including both civilian areas and heritage sites. Notably, on 8 December 2025, the Temple of Preah Vihear also sustained damage, resulting in the total destruction of conservation facilities under the Cambodia–India joint conservation project, along with other temple structures,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Dec. 9).
“The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts will employ all available mechanisms, both national and international, to ensure that Thailand is held accountable under applicable international law for these immoral acts and to ensure that these destructive actions are duly recorded in the historical record of humanity.”
It is truly heartbreaking when we see the precious heritage of ancient Hindu Khmer temple is destroyed by Thailand. This sacred heritage belong to all humanity. Thailand think that it is not belong to them. I reached temple a year ago. Visit my video. https://t.co/t0jOfmZECu
Cambodia Under Attack: Our People Deserve Peace, Not War.On December 8, 2025, Thailand violated the ceasefire and launched a coordinated military assault on multiple Cambodian border areas.

Gunfire was reported earlier around Prasat Taman Thom, Takrabey, Thmor Daun, and O’Smach, and civilians have already started moving back toward the camps.
Thai Enquirer now reports that Thailand has deployed F16s and dropped bombs on the Cambodian side, with the Thai Army spokesperson confirming up to 8 strikes near areas they claim were used for Cambodian operations. Officials in Bangkok had already announced they were prepared to bring in heavy artillery and aircraft.
It looks like Thailand is once again pushing the situation toward open conflict and throwing its weight around.
Fleeing for safety, young students in the O’Smach area of Oddar Meanchey were sent home today as fresh tension and artillery fire from Thailand started up again.
