The Kennedy Forum is proud to support the budget and the bipartisan effort it will require to enact these urgently needed investments in mental health and substance use disorder care. https://t.co/XoeYPYjSYc
Maternal Mental Health: The Budget invests $471 million to support the Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates, expands initiatives in rural communities, and requires continuous Medicaid coverage for 12 mo. postpartum.
Youth Mental Health: Our youth face unique challenges amid our national mental health crisis. The budget will expand CDC’s What Works in Schools program, expand community violence prevention programs, and expand trauma-informed services to mitigate the impact of violence.
Crisis Services: Building on the launch of 988 this summer, the Budget invests in the 988 crisis line to address 100% of est contacts, scaling follow-up crisis services, and expanding CDC’s suicide prevention program to all States, DC, and 18 tribal & territorial jurisdictions.
Workforce: In the face of our national provider shortage, the Budget provides historic investments in the behavioral health workforce, youth mental health treatment, Certified Community Based Behavioral Health Clinics, and Community Mental Health Centers.
Medicare: We’ve long supported extending mental health parity to all health plans. The Budget lowers Medicare patients’ costs for mental health services, requires coverage for mental health be equal to that of physical health, and expands coverage for mental health providers.
