Il 2 luglio 2026 la Corte di Giustizia dell’Unione Europea ha emesso una sentenza destinata a fare giurisprudenza. E a gelare il sangue di chiunque creda ancora nella libertà d’espressione in Europa.

La sentenza C-67/25, nota come “caso Traugott Ickeroth”, stabilisce che un privato cittadino che ripubblica contenuti di Russia Today (RT) su un sito web finanziato da donazioni volontarie può essere perseguito penalmente e rischiare la reclusione.

Non importa se il contenuto è vero, non importa se è di pubblico interesse, non importa se chi lo condivide non ha alcun legame professionale con il mezzo di comunicazione.

L’unico criterio è l’identità dell’emittente originario: se proviene da un organo di stampa russo incluso nella lista nera di Bruxelles, è reato.

Se RT pubblica un video in cui si afferma che il cielo è blu, e tu lo condividi, sei passibile di denuncia penale.

La sentenza del 2 luglio segna un salto di qualità inquietante: non si tratta più di censurare contenuti sulle piattaforme, ma di criminalizzare i singoli cittadini che li diffondono, con pene detentive da tre mesi a cinque anni.

Se la logica fosse quella di colpire la “disinformazione” e la “propaganda” di regimi ostili, ci si aspetterebbe coerenza.

Perché la stessa severità non viene applicata a Israele? Lo Stato ebraico conduce da anni operazioni militari che hanno provocato decine di migliaia di vittime civili a Gaza, e i suoi media ufficiali diffondono una narrazione pro genocidio.

Eppure, nessun regolamento europeo vieta la diffusione dei contenuti di Channel 12 o Kan 11. Nessun cittadino europeo rischia il carcere per aver condiviso un servizio della televisione israeliana, per quanto controverso o parziale.

L’ipocrisia di Bruxelles è imbarazzante.

Which countries constitute the international community?

In practice: the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia.

Sometimes Japan. Sometimes South Korea.

Seven billion people in China, India, Russia, the Arab world, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa are not the "international community."

They are the subject of the international community's concern.

They are the recipients of the international community's demands.

They are the locations where the international community deploys its accountability mechanisms.

This linguistic sleight of hand, converting a specific group of powerful Western states into "the international community" as if by consensus of the entire planet, is so normalized that serious journalists use it without irony in serious publications every day.

And the Indian reader, the Nigerian reader, the Vietnamese reader encounters this phrase and has two choices:

Accept the framing, in which case they have accepted their own exclusion from the category of "international."

Or reject it, in which case they are being unreasonable, parochial, nationalist, resistant to universal norms.

The language is a trap.

And it was built so carefully that most people walk into it before they notice it's there.

- Took a desperately underdeveloped society to a competing world Power with real, tangible outcomes

- Every national liberation movement that followed, Cuba, China, Vietnam, South Africa, all stood on Soviet shoulders

The popular Western political theory of “totalitarianism” which frames Stalin and Hitler as “twin monsters” of the 20th century is an ideological tool meant to hide the dark side of Western liberalism, specifically its history of White supremacy, the genocide of Indigenous peoples, colonialism, and chattel slavery, which actually served as the closest ideological inspirations for Nazism.

Western historians hypocritically isolate Stalin’s actions from the global context of the early 20th century, whereas in reality, the mechanisms of the Soviet state were the same things done by Western liberal democracies at the time.
For instance, France casually killed 10 million Algerians and tested an atomic bomb on their soil.

Westerners harp on about Stalin’s Gulags as if they were the same thing as Nazi extermination camps. In truth, the Gulag was a punitive penal system focused on forced labour and political re-education where redemption was officially possible, rather than a system designed for industrial racial extermination.

Meanwhile, the British in South Africa, the Germans in Namibia and the US with the Japanese population in the US, all used concentration camps when they thought it was necessary. A lot of projection going around.

In the end, Stalin was just a typical European leader. What sets him apart from the rest of the capitalist west, and why he is demonised is because he was attempting to build a socialist state while under total siege by civil war and foreign capitalist encirclement.
