Sharing Indigenous Research @ Laurentian U by acting as a Newsletter for students & faculty accomplishments in Indigenous Research! By students, for us all.
I have written to Justin Trudeau asking him to consider using the Federal Emergencies Act to help Ontario
This could help make sure vaccines are getting to people who need them & help sick workers get paid when they stay home
We must do everything possible to keep people safe
Last Monday, my university @laurentianu announced restructuring closing 69 programs & terminating staff, administration, and faculty jobs
A quarter of the entire university was lost– 110 faculty jobs and a similar percentage of staff positions – these were career positions 1/12
As Laurentian cuts faculty, staff and entire degree programs, what about research at the university? In this Brief, members of the LU Indigenous community raise concerns about current and future of research collaborations with Indigenous partners.

This is the speech I gave tonight during the emergency parliamentary debate on finding a way to preserve the important programs at @laurentianU.
What is happening at Laurentian is an act of national vandalism under the guise of the CCAA "protection" act.

My heartaches for my colleagues and friends in the InDg Studies dept at @UofSudbury 💔 this program lead me to my PhD. The profs supported my academic journey. I got my first teaching position there. Nmaanaadendam.
Please sign this petition in our support! This is a gender equity issue! An attack on reproductive health for Northern Indigenous and Francophone women/pregnant people. https://t.co/SmCYjPzW7u
#Midwifery is essential for the health of families. COVID has highlighted health inequity in Canada. The patriarchal decision to close LU midwifery education program demonstrates society's lack of commitment to culturally safe equitable sexual and reproductive health care #SRHR
A Canadian public university is being dismantled today: Sudbury's Laurentian University (was a) northern university that served many communities, including Indigenous and Francophone. Shame on the Province, LU Board of Governors and its Admin.
What is happening at Laurentian is an act of national vandalism.
@LaurentianU played a huge role for Francophone and Indigenous voices.
It helped stop the massive youth outmigration.
We knew Doug Ford didn't give a shit about the north but this will have impact for years.
There's a cloud hanging over #Sudbury this morning.
I'll be speaking about Laurentian again, in the Legislature today. I will continue to bring your voices forward and stand alongside all of you who have been calling on Minister Romano to SHOW UP! https://t.co/YAhSptWAHp
