@EJagiellonians During the Roman period, the territories of modern Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia were mostly inhabited by Germanic tribes long before Slavic settlers arrived.
Königsberg used to be one of the nicest cities in the world before Russia destroyed it and filled it with their disgusting socialist panel block buildings.
@syntaxreturned A consistent application of post WWI self determination would have given Germany these borders. The majority of people in these regions wanted to join Germany anyway. Losing the colonies, they would’ve lost more land than gained.
@DykeStasiAgent The bystanders aren’t angry about the statue removal. The Soviets starved millions of Ukrainians to death in the Holodomor, and nearly all Soviet monuments in Eastern Europe have been demolished in the last 35 years.
@NatConPatriot@Moorsoldat36047 Literacy map perfectly matches pre WW1 German borders. Even during the PLC the developed West was German inhabited Prussia where Germans built the ports and industry. Purely Polish East stayed illiterate and poor agricultural land.
@archpng It’s always the rightfully German cities with the beautiful architecture; ruined by Poles under communism, and now restored with Western European EU funds.
Fascinating how Russia is a ‘democracy’ while they arrest anyone who criticizes Putin, who’s been ‘elected’ with 90% of the vote for the last quarter century, while every real opponent mysteriously falls out of a window.
People love to tell me that I live in a “dictatorship.” Yet Russia’s president was elected, unlike neighboring Ukraine where elections are cancelled altogether…so which one’s the dictatorship again?
What a shame these “indigenous Slavic lands” were Germanic for centuries before Slavic Migration settlement. So Germany can take them back by that logic?
UN officials, Orwell & modern law see post-WWII German expulsions from East Prussia as ethnic cleansing & crimes vs humanity.
I’m not mad about ostsiedlung since we had slavic reconquista after WW2.
I’m mad at Germans who rewrite history and cry about German erasure after WW2, giving pre-war stats about how many Germans lived in Czechia, Pomerania or Silesia - like it wasn’t a result of centuries of mass German settlement on indigenous slavic land.
Latvia, Lithuania & Estonia as part of the USSR:
• Dozens of factories built
• High wages
• Population growth
After 1991:
• Population shrunk by 17–33%
• Economies marginalized in EU
• Industrial decline
Is there any clear reason why CCCP clothing is mostly viewed as ‘cool’ and ‘retro’, while anything that even slightly resembles a Nazi symbol leads to an international scandal, even though the Soviets killed more people?
@terropro@RevBlackNetwork The Soviets also had ex-Nazi scientists. Cuba allied with regimes that killed far more people than the Nazis. They allied with evil but still haven’t gained wealth.
