For #FindsFriday this week here's a fragment of a bone bomb with some lovely decoration in the shape of a horse! It's from Childrey Warren in #Oxfordshire. The @cotswoldarch Virtual Museum has links to the site monograph so you can find out more https://t.co/UZUGINbzRy
I do enjoy a good #boardgame and for this #FindsFriday here's a well decorated #medieval tableman (gaming piece!) I illustrated this artefact for the excavation report for Bidwell West - link to the free report below via @cotswoldarch Virtual Museum https://t.co/HdKtossBI8
It's been so brilliant to work with and learn from Dr Li Sou, and connect Buckinghamshire museums and local SEND schools.
We're incredibly proud to display some of this amazing work in the Buckinghamshire Gallery, of our Global Virtual Museum and we are all very excited for the next phase๐
Thank you Li! ๐งก

Senior Illustrator Li has been working with @ParaHeritage to teach #3D scanning to SEND students โ they've been learning skills in #photogrammetry, 3D modelling, and digital storytelling! ๐ป

Delving into the @cotswoldarch Virtual Museum for this #FindsFriday is this well-preserved iron spearhead, only missing the socket ๐ (click the link for more details, and it's 3D model!) https://t.co/keupLVdH92
Something different for this #FindsFriday with some finds from the @OxMuseumService finds I recently shared with the U3A on a talk about Bronze Age Oxfordshire! Some really cool finds here some of them first recorded on the @findsorguk database
It's cool to see archaeological tools from archaeological contexts! Here's a #Roman mattock head found in S. Gloucestershire @cotswoldarch (click below for the 3D model, links to report and monograph) https://t.co/PVASGXTWVe #FindsFriday#archaeology
@nebulousflynn The sheer amount of data loss if Epic decide to stop their free hosting service altogether would be a huge concern, particularly for view-only 3D models...
โจ Over the past decade, our #๐ข๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๐ have uncovered some ๐๐ฟ๐๐น๐ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐, each with its own story to tell, and we've now started sharing these ๐ถ๐ป ๐ผ๐๐ฟ #๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐๐บ! ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ'๐ ๐ฎ ๐น๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ for your viewing pleasure... โจ
๐น #๐ก๐ฒ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ These beautifully crafted leaf-shaped arrowheads from Thame, Oxfordshire, were used in hunting (and maybe a few old quarrels...) and date to as early as 4000 BC!
๐บ #๐ฅ๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ง๐ฟ๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ต From the A417, this Romano-British brooch dates back to AD 80-160. Its intricate design and petalled top make it a real standout โ imagine pinning this on your cloak!
๐ #๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐๐ด ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ Ever seen a jug with a dragon spout? Apparently neither had this potter... This unusual fragment, discovered at Redcliff Quarter, dates to the 13th or 14th century and depicts a mythical beast โ it's the ultimate medieval conversation piece

Today, we've hit a milestone of 50 3D models in the @CotswoldArch Virtual Museum! ๐ฅณ it's brill to share these 3D scans of fascinating finds, do check them out on the website! #FindsFriday#3D#photogrammetry#archaeology
Not to brag, but... We've just released the
We're marking the occasion by repeatedly shouting ๐ง๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐ข๐ก๐๐ฆ ๐๐ก ๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ !, carefully placing moneybags filled with sand in place of biscuit stashes around the office, and fawning over this beautifully detailed #Roman stone altar (pan around for yourself, here: https://t.co/FMRHUcJhc0) ๐ค
Found in #Gloucestershire and carved from Painswick limestone, the altar features intricate representations of sacrificial implements, offering a glimpse into the private religious practices of a Roman home. It likely served as part of a 'lararium' โ a shrine dedicated to the guardian spirits of a Roman household.
Our Big Fifty milestone is a testament to the incredible work of our Senior Illustrator, Li, whose skill and dedication have brought our artefacts to life for you, in the digital world. So cheers, Li! ๐ค๐ฅ๐
