It's not very productive to tell them they have no reason to be afraid when so many of us are attacked or harassed. Better to focus on tackling violence and making streets safer.

I used to though - like when I was about 16 and nearly every day had men in vans and lorries yelling obscene things at me while I walked to school in my uniform. The more it happens, the more anxious a lot of women get. It's a normal response.

@NankervisSteve @volewriter @LeoLem54321 Fear for women isn't just about random violence at night though. It's during the day, at work and most commonly in their own homes. It's going on a date and sharing your location with your friends, covering your drink, bringing someone home and praying they aren't aggressive.

@blossomtaee Yes, quite a few actually. My dad, brothers, boyfriend, son (although he's only two!) plus my team coaches and some friends. I have far more female friends however and generally prefer women's company.
