@maraantonoff I would also add that while it may be difficult, it is critical to communicate any unexpected complications or adverse events to referring providers as soon you as you are aware. They should not learn about these from patients or family members...this will build their trust.
This an extremely important and delicate aspect of my early career as a pediatric cardiac surgeon...working to establish meaningful relationships with patients and their families plays a major role in helping to establish relationships with their referring pediatric cardiologists
