📢 Announcement: We are delighted to announce the VII International Congress on Malaria and Other Blood Parasites of Wildlife, taking place in Badajoz, Spain, from September 2-5, 2026.
Dear colleagues,
Please find below a preprint which we invite you to read and comment on. Untangling the diversity of Trypanosomes infecting Colombian amphibians: morphometric and molecular insights https://t.co/SiSf8sdDsk @TrypanoG@OneHealthPlanet@LabMarzal@AmphibiArik

Parasites have memory? 🚨
Our #preprint on bioRxiv explores how #epigenetic regulation shapes #transcriptomic plasticity in #Plasmodium homocircumflexum! 🧬🦠 Instead of random adaptation, gene expression follows a fascinating transition over time. 👀👇 https://t.co/DaeUgV1P2V
🐦 However, research gaps remain! Most studies focus on a few bird species & use different methods, making comparisons difficult. Standardized approaches & broader taxonomic sampling are needed to fully understand the protective role of uropygial secretions. 🦠🔬

🔬 Our review compiles 35 studies examining the antimicrobial effects of uropygial secretions across #bird species. We found that these secretions are generally more effective against Gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative bacteria & fungi. 🦠🦜 #AvianBiology
Divulgar Ciencia es importante en @LabMarzal. ¡Y divertido! Más aún con la gente tan maravillosa de @aspacebadajoz. Muchas gracias a Anabel, Serafín, Pedro, Jorge, Leonor, @ParejoMacarena y @OndaCampus por invitarme a su programa Haz de Ciencia.
