@Normal_Andy Gonna have to look into this for my USB BD-RW drive after I get settled in.
I'd honestly just assumed Omnidrive was for internal drives only.
"They canceled it because it would appeal to Stargate fans" AND THAT WASN'T ENOUGH.
The Stargate cancelation is a full mask off moment for modern TV, and this is why everyone should care.
It's indicative of why all of our series keep getting screwed up.
@EricTrauman@radioactivered Separate theory.
IIRC, that one oscillates between "Aliens!" and (much more plausible) "mass lack of maintenance and expertise".
@radioactivered Literally, because they didn't 'nerd-out' on all things nuclear in adolescence or teenagehood.
Understanding merely how Chicago Pile 1 or early Nuclear Power worked, makes it easy to mentally 'scale' to an immediate and exponential release of energy -a bomb.
@Normal_Andy@Umbral_Ice Leisure Suit Larry meets Time Splitters (the 1960->s Spy themed levels were peak) with some heavy No One Lives Forever seasoning.

@thejohnpeterson From a sanitary, technical, and inhuman perspective-
A bottleneck is a bottleneck.
The 'bus' can only move Units through it so-quickly. Doesn't matter if there's a bigger cache/pool behind the bottleneck or not. 1U/s is still 1 unit per second.
