Congratulations to Vikas Trivedi & collaborators for being awarded the HFSP grant!
An international team coordinated by EMBL Barcelona researchers has been awarded $1.5M to study how developing organisms stay on track despite climate-driven temperature instability.
Thrilled to see the El·lipse article live!
Proud that my push to rename the rooms after Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Rita Levi-Montalcini is sparking conversations about history, identity, and respect in science.
Grateful to PRBB for amplifying this—names matter.
Thank you to organisers Alex Dunn, Zev Gartner @ZevGartner, Adrian Jacobo @Adrian_Jacobo and Matthew Kutys and everyone who joined us for our Workshop on New Technologies for Studying and Reprogramming Development.

🔎@viktri08 lab (@EMBLBarcelona) and @jvveenvliet team (@mpicbg) have independently found that glycolysis plays a much more active role in embryonic development than previously thought, revealing glycolysis’s dual role: metabolic and instructive.

We are excited to share the latest contribution from the lab! We found that cells in gastruloids communicate to each other in order to control the timing of gastruloid symmetry breaking.
Hence, we suggest that not only cell-cell rearrangements, but also cell-cell communication are likely to work synergistically and biochemical and mechanical processes evolve under a common morphogenetic timescale in the system.
