No progress has been made in the on-going negotiations after the City of Edmonton chose not reach out to the union over the weekend.

Today, Civic Service Union 52 has served strike notice to the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Public Library.

After the 72 hour notice period, the picket line will begin at 11:00am on Thursday, March 14th. #yeg #csu52

In a resounding display of solidarity, Edmonton Public Library members of CSU 52 have overwhelmingly voted in favour of a strike mandate. With an impressive 93% voter turnout, an astonishing 94% of members have voted in support of a strike mandate.

Strike mandate voting for CSU 52 City of Edmonton members is currently underway and ends on Monday at 3PM.

[Civic Service Union 52 @CSU52]

In a response to the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Public Library’s lack of movement in negotiating a fair deal, Civic Service Union 52 has called their membership to emergency meetings to address the escalating situation.

CSU52’s Bargaining Committee has witnessed a lack of commitment from the City to reach a fair settlement. After enduring five years without a wage increase, CSU52 members now face the grim prospect of a city that refuses to consider their legitimate needs.

The union urges all members to attend the upcoming emergency meetings scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024, and Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at three different times: 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

On this day in 1958, more than 6000 Newfoundland loggers began a strike against Anglo-Newfoundland Development for wage increases and improvements in living conditions at camps. At the time, loggers in Newfoundland were the lowest paid in Canada. #canlab #cdnpoli #nlpoli
