I can’t give up on Twitter because of that one time that @chrissyteigen rt’d me making fun of my boyfriend and 1000 people told me to dump him in the replies. I never did.
I see many small businesses getting so caught up in these trends that they are pulling the focus away from what they offer. It’s confusing, it looks muddled and chaotic. If you don’t want to dance around on a reel, please don’t, your audience can feel your discomfort.
Ok quickie re: social media. I work in digital marketing and have for a long time now (like back when it wasn’t called digital marketing). This reel/TikTok stuff is getting carried away. At some point someone said, “you HAVE to do reels/TikTok’s to grow your social.”
For example, when I see a local realtor/dentist etc. start dancing pointing around on a reel, I’m out. It’s not genuine, it’s uncomfortable to watch and I’m not interested - I imagine their local target audience is also not interested.
During the dark points in covid I spent a lottt on candles, a lot. So I decided to start making them for myself because I found a lot of them were so strongly scented that they would give me headaches.
I have been picking “pampas grass” from the ditch for years. I’m here to tell you it’s harvesting season, save your money, close the Etsy tab, go find a country ditch.
…. The people are losing their minds you guys. I feel like 40% of my Facebook friends have posted the most wild, unhinged rants I have ever seen this week. I’m worried. It’s only Tuesday.
