Protected Areas generate a huge amount of cultural value; our latest paper (https://t.co/fCwoOzbFbd) uses social media photos and machine learning to map cultural value across the length of Brazil's iconic coastline.
Here in PNAS we show that Amazonian sustainable-use protected areas catalyze many co-benefits resulting in dramatic improvements in local resident welfare well beyond biodiversity protection. Led by

Totally agree with Bill about this. For a slightly different perspective check out our article from 2014: Multilinguismo nas ciências ambientais: Ahora ya! (don't worry... it's in English)

The domination of English as the language of science can hinder some scientists for whom English is not their first language and result in research being ignored. Article discusses some solutions to this important problem including work of @tatsuya_amano https://t.co/0ntcNr2gXM
I`m giving a webinar today at 15:30 (Portugal Time) on "NATURE CONSERVATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE: CONSERVATION CULTUROMICS AND iECOLOGY". Details here: https://t.co/yCp0CfD39J
Conservation managers need long term data to make good decisions... that's why we need long term ecological research. Check out our ground-breaking project on the 'Coral Coast' in Alagoas.

@LloydCymru A combination of the following:
i. Time-lag between infection and seeking test
ii. Increase in testing
iii. Change in testing (now testing those with milder symptoms)

Conservation Biogeography — a confusing and redundant discipline or a socially relevant and intellectually adventurous research area? Katinas & Ladle respond to a recent critique by Driscoll et al.

Conservation is complicated and there are no 'silver bullets'. We certainly need to increase reforestation here in Brazil, but as this article shows, doing it badly could be worse than doing nothing.
Excited to share my paper in Science today explaining that successful tree planting is much more complicated than most people think. https://t.co/DbSkiRGFUK
