@GOLDBABYO I had a similar experience on a flight from MUC to MAN. I was in my seat and was told to move. I always screenshot my boarding pass and could prove the seat I paid for was given to someone else. I was reseated to a middle seat. It is infuriating! I got a refund, but not the point

Britain has around 236 million farmed animals and roughly 22 million cats and dogs. On the RCVS's own figures, 3.2 percent of British vets work in farm practice. Over half work with pets.

Which is why the vet who drives out to Clarkson's Farm has already retired once.

Dilwyn Evans answers the phone whenever it goes and gets in the car. His line about it, to BBC Radio Cymru, is that farmers take a lot of stick from people who imagine the job is four-wheel drives and shooting, when it is weather, animals and market prices and very little else.

This is the country that made All Creatures Great and Small a national institution twice over. Millions of us watched a young vet with his arm inside a cow in the Dales and found it the most reassuring thing on television.

Almost nobody went and did it.

A Zoetis white paper found 46.5 percent of vets working with farm animals want out of the sector, and three quarters of all UK vets had taken time off in the previous year over work-related problems. Rural practices are hardest to staff, for the obvious reasons. Remote, lower paid, worse hours, heavier work.

In June this year a parliamentary committee reported on it. Rural and large-animal practice, consistently underserved. Employers trapped in a permanent cycle of recruitment, retirement and resignation. The profession leaning on overseas vets while immigration rules tighten. Vet schools themselves on a funding model the committee called unsustainable, with a real risk of courses closing.

Meanwhile corporate ownership of British veterinary practices went from around 10 percent in 2013 to nearly 60 percent by 2023, driven by private equity buying up chains. That money went where the customers are, which is dogs, cats and insurance policies.

A farm vet does TB testing, which decides whether a herd lives or dies. Calvings that go wrong at three in the morning. Lambing. Notifiable disease surveillance, which is the only reason anyone in Whitehall knows what is moving through the national herd.

Lose them and the country loses its early warning system on disease, at the exact moment bluetongue is spreading and TB is still shutting farms for months at a time.

There is a man in Wales who retired years ago and still goes out at night, because there is nobody younger coming.

Britain will happily watch a vet on a Sunday evening. It will not pay for one on a Tuesday.

We posted about this little lady last night after she was found straying in Brynna. We sadly have to update that she has tested positive for parvovirus. She is currently extremely unwell and is receiving intensive vet treatment.

🚨 URGENT: SEARCH INTENSIFIES FOR MISSING ISRAELI MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

Mali Yahalomi, 50, and her daughter Liel, 23, remain missing in Europe, with no contact with their family since Friday.

According to the latest report, the two were expected to catch a flight from Prague, but as check-in nears closing, they have still not arrived.

An Israeli official says an enormous effort is underway to locate them:

“The whole world is on its feet trying to find them.”

Israeli officials, local authorities and Jewish community representatives are involved in the search.

Can you share for Cher, she’s not had any enquiries recently.

Sadly Cher's previous offer of a home fell through. She was however a good girl today at the vets and got all her vaccinations up dated. She is now ready to find a new home.

Cher is a beautiful 4-year-old crossbreed (Old English Bulldog × Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso) looking for a calm, understanding home where she can truly thrive.
Cher is an incredibly affectionate little dog who absolutely loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favourite people. She’s happiest snuggled beside you on the sofa or curled up in bed at night, and she forms strong bonds with the people she trusts. She also enjoys soft toys (although they don’t usually last very long!), tasty treats, and showing off her tricks. She knows sit, paw, other paw, high five and “knuckles” – especially if a treat is involved!
Cher enjoys her dry food and likes a bit of variety every now and then, although she’s currently enjoying Wagg. Wet food doesn’t agree with her stomach, so she sticks to dry kibble.
Cher has always been an anxious dog, and sadly this anxiety has recently led to redirected aggression towards another dog in the household. After a great deal of thought, the heartbreaking decision that finding her the right home is the kindest and safest option for everyone involved.
She has lived with children and has always been gentle and affectionate with them and their friends once she has had time to settle. However, she does become much more anxious around very young children and toddlers, often becoming tense and uncomfortable. Because of this, we feel Cher would be happiest in an adult-only home, or one with older, sensible teenagers who understand when she needs space.
Cher has lived with other dogs throughout her life but can be nervous around unfamiliar dogs, and due to her recent behaviour we believe she would do best as the only pet in the home. She isn’t a fan of cats.
She walks reasonably well on a lead, although she can pull at times. She’s a little nervous travelling in the car but copes with reassurance. She doesn’t enjoy baths or water, and while she’s happy to be brushed, grooming can make her anxious, so patience and gentle handling are important.
Cher is microchipped and has no known medical conditions.
Cher is looking for a patient, experienced owner who understands anxious dogs and can offer her a calm, predictable environment where she can relax and feel secure. A single person or adult couple would be an ideal match. In the right home, Cher has so much love to give and will reward you with endless affection, loyalty and companionship.
This decision has not been made lightly, and finding the right forever home for Cher is our absolute priority.

A large dog named Keanu, also known as Kino, was abandoned in the woods. By the time rescuers found him, he had completely given up. He lay motionless on the ground, too weak to move, with only a few hours left to live due to severe exhaustion and malnutrition.

The rescue team's volunteers rushed him to safety, where he received IV fluids and intensive care. At first, Keanu could only lie in one place and eat without moving. But little by little, he regained his strength. He eventually stood up, began walking again, played with the other rescue dogs, and even found himself a "girlfriend."

In the end, Keanu was adopted by a loving family. Today, he is a happy, gentle, and affectionate dog, enjoying the life he always deserved. ❤️🐶
