My husband grew up next to a river/brook and it was amazing for him. The most dangerous stories he has are from when the kids were playing out front near the road. But if it's really going to be a constant huge worry for you, maybe not worth it.

@japan_nobunaga I have one electric kettle, two stovetop kettles, and three teapots of different sizes. My husband also has his own Gongfu tea set. We never microwave water for tea. (But, um... we're also probably not a very good example of an "average" American in this case.) 🤭
