Introducing the Rib Eye Index. What is the current purchase power of Bitcoin? When its price goes up is Bitcoin getting stronger or USD weaker? How much of each?
8/5/25 5pm pacific time the Index is ~13,155.
Apologies to @beefinitiative b/c the best way to buy your beef is to shake a rancher’s hand—I’ll explain the how and why below.
I’m using the price of Ribeye from Costco and using Choice level.
Why?
Costco is huge and not going anywhere. Prices are generally consistent coast to coast and choice is sold more frequently than Prime. Not suggesting to buy this type or at this place but for Index purposes it is ideal.
Now, to confirm the calculations Bitcoiners have already all done:
$1 gets you 877 sats at 114k/btc
Costco sells Choice Ribeyes at 14.99/lb. 877*15~=13,155
FutureTargets:
1. Sat/Penny Parity (est by end of 2033) RI should be 1500 if purchasing power of USD holds (it won’t). But now we can calculate real vs nominal gains at these price milestones. If RI is > 1500 then our purchase power has dropped and we can see by how much.
2. Sat/dollar parity (est end of 2042 )this should be 15 Sats per LB. Again, anything more lets us know how much weaker the USD is than now.
Strength of Index: Costco is chosen for general price stability and consistency, company longevity and purchase frequency of Choice Ribeye.
THIS IS THE WAY

“Guys, forgot about the fact that 50-year mortgages don’t solve any of the root problems and will artificially boost demand, which will make housing prices climb even higher and overall affordability even worse than they already are.”
But other than that, it’s wonderful!
This expression should forever be our reaction to the school marm, lecturing, sanctimonious culture police every time they demand we play their guilt-ridden, apology, carny games.
The Republican Party has nothing to offer downwardly mobile voters with graduate degrees. Just completely (economically, culturally) out of touch with this demographic.
I'm 33, I have two masters degrees, and I my take-home income has been unchanged since 2020 because of inflation and housing costs. I have to worry every day about my job being outsourced to India despite having spent 7 years developing real expertise in my industry.
Meanwhile, all the local GOP wants to do is eliminate property taxes for Boomers, encourage mass legal immigration, and lecture me on how I need to "wait my turn" before I can actually have any influence in politics.
I'm unmarried and I question what's the point of even trying to build a family if there's no party that cares about my future. Rule by tribalist third-worlders is inevitable if the GOP doesn't get its head out of the sand and start caring about the interests of Millennials and Zoomers over those of globalists and Boomers.
Imagine: Tomorrow, the House passes a bill to fund air traffic control. Then, the Senate passes it, with 51 votes, rejecting any 'filibuster.' The President signs the bill.
It really is that easy, folks.
Everything else is noise.
I find it insane that people can say with a straight face that they trust our FBI and law enforcement to give us the truth about Charlie Kirk’s assassination no matter where it leads. The blatant cover-up of the Las Vegas Massacre, with cameras everywhere, is proof they can’t be trusted.
Dick Cheney's policies killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people to enrich his cronies by starting a war based on false premises.
He spent trillions in taxpayer money while stripping citizens of their liberties and installing a massive surveillance regime.
No tears shed.
Dick Cheney was like 100 years old and sold his country out to enrich himself and his friends.
Republicans don’t need to “set aside politics” to honor the lives of the boomers who destroyed this country every time one dies.
No eulogy needed for this one.
The number of untraceable mail in ballots for the last 3 Presidential elections:
2024: 48 million
2020: 65 million
2016: 33 million
I wonder how they stole 2020?!
If Congress accomplishes just 1 thing this year it must be election integrity.
Securing elections is everything.
$38 trillion in debt.
Housing more unaffordable than ever. Healthcare more unaffordable than ever. College more unaffordable than ever.
Cars more unaffordable than ever.
Rising foreclosures and delinquencies.
Do you think the average American feels anything close to “wealthy”?
