In 2019, when I started The Lahore Cat Lady, I wanted to build cat trees on the walls of the second floor lounge of my parents’ home. I called a carpenter in, but I couldn’t afford the expense then.
On the morning of Eid 2021, my family called me down to have halwa poori with them, but I was too busy looking after cats and responding to clients to join them. In 2022, I had a client come in to drop off their cat on the morning of Eid day.
On the fourth day, I rushed out of the house to join them on a last-minute trip to Trampoline Park — still in a t-shirt and jeans and oil in my hair. By the fifth day of Eid, I accepted Eid had passed, and I couldn’t play dress-up this year.
My home, February 29, 2024.
In February, the mornings were chilly. The sun came up on the terrace in the afternoon, and I sat on the sofa — with the sun on my back — to get some work done. All the leaves from the jasmine vines fell off, and I waited for it to be spring.
Thanks to my clients who welcome me into their homes, their hearts and to New Year's dinners with their families. Every day, I'm honored and touched by your love and kindness.
A very happy new year to everyone!
In the past four-plus years, this is the first time I feel stressed introducing a new service to The Lahore Cat Lady. But underneath that stress, I’m also happy and proud.
