I got this from a school student last night.
This is heartbreaking.
The student is saying school only cares about top ten and many students are dropping math.
Dear students, if you want to get into any good uni, math is important.
Don’t trust your teachers on career guidance. Don’t trust your school. Use AI, use internet. It will give you better guidance than your teachers and schools.
MU Manik wasn’t just a founder of Maldives tourism, the industry that transformed our economy and living standards. He was a man who served this nation in both private and public roles, literally until his last breath.
Beyond tourism, he played an immense role in keeping Maldives aviation sector alive, the backbone of our tourism.
I dare say the only reason MACL remained stable, unlike many SOEs reduced to political tools, was because MU Manik was there. He understood the critical importance of aviation to the Maldives and had the courage to stand firm when governments tried to push politically motivated decisions that would damage the sector’s long-term vision. I fear we have no one else who could do that.
Did you see how MACL started making gyms and take on infeasible airport projects right after he left the board? Do you have any idea how important it is to maintain the credit rating and financial strength of MACL to continue to develop and maintain aviation sector which is directly related to tourism and trade?
This man served his nation for almost 80 years. Wasn’t just a key part of introduction of tourism but also safeguarded tourism and aviation industry AND YET, even when news of him being in ICU surfaced, some chose to share mockery and vile words. Maybe those behind these posts, often faceless bots, are ignorant, maybe they simply don’t know.
But fellow Maldivians, remember this: if this is the respect we give to a man who dedicated his entire life to building the Maldives we live in today, striving to make it better, then we should not expect future generations to step forward and sacrifice in the same way.
Why would anyone sacrifice to serve ungrateful people? Why would anyone dedicate their life to a nation that cannot honor its own, to a people who can’t even tell apart those who served them from those who ripped them off?
If you want cow shit, right here is cow shit by @mo_hamm3r.
Lee Kuan Yew surrounded himself with the most capable minds, regardless of ethnicity, nationality or background, in the early years of Singapore’s independence.
And those best brains they designed a world class financial centre, they designed the best international port/shipping/bunkering. Neither Lee Kuan nor his cabinet were experts in any of these fields. But they pooled the best talents from all corners of the world. Look up the history, read history. Every successful country you see in the world, every developed country you see will have a generous and merit based migration system. That’s what I’m talking about.
Admit it. We don’t have the talent.
Admit it. We don’t have the talent.
And most importantly admit that it’s definitely not coming from this already filthy HR pool.
Injecting money into the economy by the central bank through any means is called money printing or monetary financing. We are still recovering from the economic challenges linked to past instances of monetary financing under the previous administration.
By the end of January 2025, broad money stood at MVR 61.6 billion. If MVR 15 billion is injected, it would increase broad money by 24%, which would inevitably lead to inflation, exchange rate pressure, and broader economic instability.
It is also important to note that the IMF repeatedly advised the previous administration against money printing and commended the current administration for exercising restraint in this regard.
I hope the government continues on this prudent path and avoids policies that could destabilize the economy.
When @HiskoMan, @mabrouq, @Miuvaan & Hoodh ran PO media, everything was just perfect.
Decisions announced were firm, final & delivery method thoughtfully tailored to type of news.
People respected the highest office in this country back then.
They were fucking professional!
