I'm an ex Ranger for the Lake District National Park Authority working on environmental and recreation projects. This is my page, with my opinions and my views.
I'm a user of X, but mainly for sport, politics, environmental, and countryside updates. For everything related to my ventures, you can keep up to date on Facebook and Instagram! Follow @theoldurc for the latest news:

@Al_Humphreys This is not fascinating it's vandalism of the highest order. Not something that the National Trust or other organisations in the Lake District want to see glamourised. See the NTs response here https://t.co/ElUzH2uITP
I was there. Spent the night before in Mikton Keynes. Then our mate Rich dropped me and my mates Phil and TC somewhere on the north circular as soon as we saw the twin towers of Wembley. Still got the programme somewhere.
@QEGSSport First time I have been back in 32 years since I made the odd appearance for the 1st XV on that very pitch. Supporting my son who was playing for @FalconsRugby
England's national parks survive on less than did 12 years ago - and they now face another round of devastating cuts.
🌳Cuts of £16m by 2025
🌳Visitor centres closing
🌳Park rangers made redundant
🌳Path maintenance abandoned
🌳 Nature restoration stopped

So that’s it. Who are the winners from this budget? Bankers, city fatcats, fossil fuel giants, the extremely wealthy. Who are the losers? Everyone else. And not one word about climate & nature protection, on which all wealth ultimately depends #Bankersbudget
@dodgsonwood@lakedistrictnpa Sorry to hear this John. We had a trip over Dunmail to Coniston. Worried that it would be busy, found it pleasantly quiet. I suppose the lesson is that whilst the car parks might be empty, there are still places where people go where think they can get away with such behaviour.
@CalumStott1@herdyshepherd1@UllswaterCic Are you restoring an old hedge line, using guards and double fencing it Calum? Personally I've never planted any where that has been prepped.
@UllswaterCic@UllswaterFelt@KateClement7 @mosric Good to be outdoors again after a rather topsy-turvy 12 months. Great to be back creating new hedgerows and habitat that improve a small part of the Lake District.
Superb flapjack from @theshepherdswi1 although somebody (@herdyshepherd1) tried to pass it off as his own.
After over 12 years of working as a Ranger in various guises for the Lake District National Park, I have today left the office for the last time. Thanks to the wonderful people, colleagues, volunteers, businesses, communities, farmers and landowners, I have some great memories.
