At Todmorden station I was struggling with my suitcase on the 2 flight of stairs but to see a disabled person having to park his mobility scooter at the bottom and then struggle with two crutches was demoralising. When is @NorthenrailF going to bring this station into 21st cent!
The Pathfinder pilot evaluation out today makes for positive reading - child victims feel better supported, re-traumatisation is reduced and cases are being resolved faster.
Clear this approach now needs to be rolled out across all Family Courts in England and Wales. 1/2
As a new school year begins in Afghanistan tomorrow — almost 400,000 more girls will be deprived of their right to education, bringing a total to 2.2 million girls out of school.
1283 days since teenage girls have been banned from school since the Taliban’s return.
More than 1,500 police officers were accused of violence against women and girls in a six-month period, figures for England and Wales suggest.
But of the resolved cases, only 13 were sacked, according to data from the National Police Chiefs' Council.

Today, during a talk I was giving on coercive control, I was struck again by the sheer scale of male violence against women, and how much of it remains uncounted…
We say three women a week are killed by men, but the reality is likely far worse when we factor in domestic abuse-related suicide - an area with limited data and little formal recognition:
🔺 Three women a week are estimated to die by suicide due to domestic abuse.
🔺 Some estimates suggest the real number could be as high as 10 women a week.
🔺 Nearly 30 women attempt DA-related suicide every day data suggests.
The true toll remains unknown. And yet, we still don’t treat this as the crisis it is.
Worse still, perpetrators are routinely not held to account, and walk free.
Ryan Wellings was the first to stand trial for a partner’s suicide after domestic abuse. Despite being convicted of coercive control - threatening Kiena Dawes with acid and a drill - he was CLEARED of manslaughter.
Kiena repeatedly reported his physical and psychological abuse to police, yet no meaningful action was taken. Just weeks before her death, she reached out again, desperate for protection. She didn’t get it.
Kiena left a suicide note saying Wellings had killed her, yet the defence blamed her history of mental health, erasing his role in the abuse that drove her there.
These are not just tragedies. They are the result of a sustained campaign of domestic abuse. Yet, the law refuses to recognise them, failing to hold perpetrators accountable.
The more we fail abused women, the more we refuse to recognise the true scale of male violence against women and girls.
From the 3rd to the 9th February, we're supporting Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week 2025.
This week, we aim to shed light on the often-overlooked issue of sexual abuse of older people and work toward changing minds.
At any age, #ItsNotOK.
@jet2tweets Passengers are very very tired. Plane was due to take off at 7.30pm however no boarding been done as yet its 8.24 local time. Can people get answers please. What is the realtime of things moving.
I think I should avoid @LBIAirport and @jet2tweets next travel. Travelled 4 times;
1st time 3 hour wait in security queue
2nd time: 9 hour delay
3rd time 7 hour delay and stuck in Seberia waiting for alternative flight to pick us and take us to our destination.
@jet2tweets There has been multiple issues, after the medical emergency the flight took off 2 hour later and then landed due to emergency door setting a warning sign. You should know this.
The holiday period can be extremely difficult for many victims and survivors of #DomesticAbuse

Betrayed. Ashamed. Hurt.
This is what it feels like to be an older victim-survivor of economic abuse.
The majority of these cases are committed by those the victim trusts the most, their own family.
It’s time to #TakeNote: https://t.co/7HMxVsNbnE
