A press conference was held today at the Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA, Delhi, to announce activities under the #HarGharTiranga 2026 campaign. It was chaired by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon'ble Minister of Culture & Tourism, who emphasized the campaign's goal of fostering national pride and unity.

Joining him was Shri Randhir Jaiswal, Additional Secretary & Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs (@MEAIndia ), who introduced the #SuryapathTiranga initiative, which will take place on 15 August. Indian embassies & posts worldwide will participate in a global relay of the Tiranga, following the rising sun from east to west.

Shri Sachchidananda Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA, discussed the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day which will be observed across India on 14 August - including special tribute programs in Amritsar, Delhi, and West Bengal.

Also present on the occasion were Shri Samar Nanda, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and Shri M Annadurai, ADG (CMC), Press Information Bureau (@PIB_India), among other officials.

This year, Har Ghar Tiranga is dedicated to the spirit of our National Song, Vande Mataram, and will be celebrated from 9 to 17 August, 2026.

The meeting marks the final engagement under the Culture Track during India’s BRICS Chairship.

On the sidelines of the 3rd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, participated in a pottery session and crafted a traditional kulhad, celebrating India’s rich artisanal heritage and timeless craftsmanship.

Delegates from BRICS Member and Partner Countries also experienced the pottery session, engaging with one of India’s cherished traditional crafts and gaining firsthand insight into the country’s vibrant living heritage.

Representatives from BRICS Member States held productive discussions on strengthening cultural cooperation across key priority areas, including the creative economy, protection of cultural heritage, and culture for sustainable development.

During the ongoing BRICS Culture Track meetings under India’s Chairship, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Deyvesson Israel Alves Gusmão, President of the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN), Ministry of Culture, Federative Republic of Brazil.

The discussions focused on strengthening India–Brazil cultural cooperation, heritage conservation, and enhancing collaboration under the BRICS framework. Shri Vivek Aggarwal also invited Brazil to participate in the Ministry of Culture’s upcoming Art & Architecture Biennale, to be held in December 2026.

The meeting explored avenues to deepen India–Russia cooperation in the fields of culture and heritage, while reaffirming the shared commitment to advancing collaboration through the BRICS cultural agenda. Shri Vivek Aggarwal also extended an invitation to the Russian Federation to participate in the Ministry of Culture’s Art & Architecture Biennale, scheduled for December 2026.
