@SecondRingSZN@RodericDay I don't think you understand what i'm trying to say. I'm not saying the west is righteous or that liberalisation wasn't also hard on China. The only thing i'm saying is that liberalism in general does improve living standards sustainably while communism simply has not done so.
@SecondRingSZN@RodericDay Im all for nationalisation of colonial property/land reforms after colonisation, wealth tax whatever. But i also realise that that needs to go hand in hand with strong property rights and broad participation in the economy for things to function
@SecondRingSZN@RodericDay No what i'm saying is that planned economies don't work and have never worked. Also praising a leader who killed millions through famines (deliberate or not) is silly. Besides that sharing of knowledge did happen in a sense when China liberalised.
@SecondRingSZN@RodericDay I can understand that Stalin did in fact transform the USSR into an industrialized country, but what i'm also saying is that it was done in such a brutally inefficient and inhumane way that clearly would've been done better were there some liberal system (as other countries show)
@AnimeSerbia There are definitely weird ass anime that people should be judged for watching, but Madoka is insane to say that about. I know more women who love that show than men
@The_Weeb_Crew Saying this about Madoka of all shows is insane. How can one have such a strong opinion on something they know nothing about. Things can be cute without being sexual
@RodericDay People can still write like how most write on twitter after having read a bunch of academic work. When i say "i genuinely cant believe" its because believing that QOL or poverty is worse under liberalisation requires one to ignore some of the largest poverty reductions in history
@RodericDay This just feels like over analyzing a sentence to make anyone that thinks liberal policies are the way automatically look like a religious nut job. While in fact i have just researched history and theory and come to the conclusion that materially a form of liberalism works best.
@RodericDay I'm not even against everything Marx has written. I just genuinely can not understand how one can be well read in history/economics/human welfare and come to the conclusion that some form of liberalism isn't the way to improve quality of life.
@RodericDay I do not care about follower counts, in general no one has started doing something irl because a big account tweeted it. In person conversations i feel would have a higher effect. Outside of that i do critically engage with literature and im not some Friedman lover.
@RodericDay Truly these are the types of responses you should send to people that are willing to listen to your arguments. It is truly a privilege to be taken seriously.
@RodericDay As someone who has studied economic history for a few years now i just really can't get how anyone can think otherwise. Hate on Israel or American Imperialism all you want i get that, but like how can one still seriously believe communism functions better (if at all)?
@RodericDay I think quoting a man that has starved millions of people through shitty/deliberate policy design when talking about "American quality of life being bad" is more stupid. Of all things you can try to defend Stalin for quality of life might be the stupidest one.
