The fitness industry loves to pretend aesthetics are just for insecure 20-year-olds. Like wanting to look good at 40 is some kind of vanity sin.
“Train for health.” “Train for function.”
Sure. But also - train to look like you f*cking lift.
If you’ve spent decades building your career, your family, your mind.
Why would your body be the one thing left behind?
You don’t need to settle.
You don’t need to blend in.
And you sure as hell don’t need to shrink yourself to fit the “dad bod” template.
You’re allowed to want to turn heads.
To fill out a t-shirt.
To look like your discipline shows.
Some people buy Ferraris.
Others build one and walk around in it.
Because aesthetics aren’t just about looks.
They’re about ownership.
Standards.
And refusing to be average - in any domain.
So if you’re 38, 44, 52 - and you want to be shredded, muscular, proud of the reflection staring back at you?
Good.
You should be.

@mfishbein Yeah, this humbles everyone eventually. You can aim an existing current at your offer, but you can't dig the riverbed yourself. Half of what looks like marketing skill is just picking a market that already wanted the thing.

Good question, energy is the one on that list that isn't really a fixed trait. You can hire someone genuinely high-energy and watch a draining manager or a pointless roadmap flatten them inside a year. What you screen for at the interview and what the job does to it are two different things.
@JacquelineSYC19 Imposter syndrome rarely looks like panic. It looks like routing every hard call to your co-founder so you're never the one who was wrong, when honestly a bad decision you own teaches you faster than ten you dodged.

@tryingtobeLFA There is no objective risk, I know that intelectually. They are all safe for me to perform, it's 100% a mental thing. Which is why I force myself to do it...over and over again.
When building was slow and expensive, the cost did your filtering for you. Now that it's cheap, nothing stops you shipping ten wrong things, so the judgment has to be self-imposed. Recognise this building fitness applications, I've spent months building really cool shit (MRI grade before-after picture allignement for example) that frankly no one gives a shit about

@gracepuregold The first point is spot on. Nobody can eyeball intake, the hand-to-mouth bites between meals never get counted and add up. The people who finally crack it usually logged one brutally honest week and found the few hundred calories hiding in their ignorance.
