🇺🇦Zelensky:
A day before the invasion, the Europeans, who knew less than the Americans, were talking with Putin.
Putin promised them there wouldn't be an invasion. He lied to all of them. He knew there would be an invasion. He knew everything.
Russia was putting out a lot of information claiming I had fled.
Their whole idea was for people to run, and people would run if they saw that their leader abandoned them.
They wanted me to run. I couldn't abandon Kyiv, the office, the people. It's just impossible.
That would be betrayal. Betrayal of my human decency and the constitution of Ukraine.
I INSIST THAT YOU READ THIS.
The first two answers are rather boring. But then, when journalists started grilling Trump about lifting sanctions on Russia in exchange for Steven Hubbard’s release, he began losing his temper and completely went off the rails.
And yes, almost all the questions were about lifting sanctions. They barely asked him about anything else.
Trump: “We are getting closer to settling this war, perhaps closer than ever before. Putin agreed to release Steven Hubbard. We gave nothing in return.”
(We merely lifted sanctions on Russian diesel and increased pressure on Ukraine — my note.)
Reporter: “Witkoff described Putin as a humanitarian. Would you describe him the same way?”
Trump: “I think you can say something like that for a specific purpose — to free a man who thought he would spend the rest of his life in prison. We are negotiating with Russia to stop the war in Ukraine, and we are pleased that Russia is staying out of Iran. We flattened Iran. The last thing I want to do is cause damage when we are so close to settling the war. The last thing I want to do is something terrible. If we had done what these stupid people wanted [imposed sanctions on Russia], he [Hubbard] would never have been released. Whether people like it or not, Russia could have become much more involved in Iran, and so could China.”
Reporter: “You’re heading to South Carolina to campaign for Darlene Graham, the sister of the late Lindsey Graham. What did she tell you about lifting the sanctions on Russia that they fought so hard for?”
Trump: “I’ll tell you something interesting. As you know, we have a gentleman coming home from Russia who was captured four years ago during the Biden administration. That would never have happened if I had been president. We are negotiating with Russia, and a lot of stupid people who don’t understand how life works are asking, ‘Why are you doing this?’ If I hadn’t done it, Hubbard wouldn’t be coming home. You know nothing. You’re fake news, CNN. I got him out because I had very good and very quick negotiations with President Putin. We are negotiating with Russia over Ukraine. We may be closer to a deal than ever before, and this is not the moment to impose sanctions.”
Reporter: “But sanctions in exchange for his release…”
Trump: “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low-IQ person. You’re stupid, and you work for CNN. If I’m negotiating and getting someone released from prison in Siberia or somewhere else… Biden should have brought him home, but I did. If I had imposed sanctions at that moment, the negotiations would have ended immediately. Use your brain.”
Reporter: “Was it Elon Musk who ordered Starlink to be shut off?”
Trump: “I don’t know who it was, but I had nothing to do with it.”
Reporter: “How can you claim you gave nothing in return when you lifted sanctions on Russia to secure Hubbard’s release?”
Trump: “Are you a stupid person? Who do you work for?”
Reporter: “ABC News.”
Trump: “You’re a stupid person. And by the way, your network is the worst of them all.”
Reporter: “Let’s get back to the substance of the question…”
Trump: (Walks away.)
BOCHKOV: A PUNCH! ANOTHER PUNCH! AND ZELENSKYY KNOCKS TRUMP OUT!
Trump is accustomed to hitting people who cannot fight back. It is his favorite sport. He enters the ring against an opponent whose hands have already been tied, whose gloves have been taken away, and who has been warned that every retaliatory punch will cost him his food. Donald then squares his shoulders, sticks out his belly, and demands to be recognized as the world champion.
But with Zelenskyy, something went wrong.
Trump demanded that Ukraine abandon its fight for Donbas. He explained that continued resistance was pointless, that Kyiv should accept a deal with Russia, and at the same time made it unmistakably clear that the Ukrainian president should step aside for someone more accommodating.
The first punch.
Then came concessions to Moscow, discussions about trading Russian diesel, delays in missile deliveries for Ukraine’s air defenses, and restrictions on satellite communications reported by Kyiv. Meanwhile, Trump somehow managed to declare that Russia was behaving quite reasonably and was not doing anything particularly objectionable.
The second punch.
And then something happened that the self-satisfied American heavyweight apparently never expected.
Zelenskyy stepped forward.
He openly declared that Washington was effectively pushing Ukraine toward capitulation, that supporting Putin would become a historic mistake for America, and that no promises of future economic prosperity could justify surrendering a country to an aggressor.
Consider this: the president of a country bleeding from war, dependent on American weapons and intelligence, refuses to bow his head before a man who commands enormous resources and is accustomed to treating other people's vulnerability as sufficient grounds for their unconditional submission.
What makes this particularly remarkable is that Zelenskyy understands perfectly well the price of such defiance. He knows Trump is capable of retaliation, cutting off assistance, issuing threats, and applying blackmail. He knows that plenty of supposedly sensible gentlemen in Europe are ready to advise him to be more accommodating, smile more broadly, and under no circumstances irritate the occupant of the White House.
But there is something these gentlemen overlook.
Zelenskyy represents a country that has already paid in blood for the right to determine its own destiny. And now he is being asked to exchange that right for the promise of a good deal.
I can imagine how furious Trump must be. Throughout his life, he has been accustomed to measuring people by the size of their bank accounts, the value of their real estate, and their willingness to grovel before someone wealthier. Yet here stands the president of a country devastated by war, refusing to sell something that has no price.
Of course, a diplomatic knockout has not yet occurred. Trump still possesses enormous leverage, and Ukraine desperately needs American assistance. Difficult negotiations lie ahead, and their outcome remains uncertain.
But this confrontation has already revealed something profoundly important.
Trump may be stronger than Zelenskyy. He may be wealthier, more influential, and more powerful. He may threaten him with every punishment the American administration is capable of inflicting.
But forcing him to voluntarily get down on his knees is an entirely different challenge.
Because in politics, a knockout does not happen when your opponent falls.
It happens when you discover that, despite all your power, you still cannot force him to surrender.

Canada's $2.3B pivot away from Starlink isn't just about internet-it's a massive warning shot to Elon Musk over Ukraine.
PM Mark Carney directly cited Musk's sudden service cuts and data restrictions to Ukraine as the exact reason Canada must achieve total strategic autonomy. No ally wants to rely on one unpredictable billionaire who can pull the military plug during a war.
Canada isn't just protecting itself. The $2.3B contract expands Ottawa-based Telesat Lightspeed into a military-grade satellite network meant for secure Arctic and NORAD defense.
Telesat confirmed they plan to deploy this secure system directly to Ukraine and other allied nations.
Canada is literally funding the un-pluggable backup system Ukraine has been looking for. 🇨🇦
Trump engaged in a thoughtful, extended conversation with—nothingness. He suddenly stopped, waved, saluted, offered greetings, and chatted for a bit with the empty space. 😁🤭
The cameraman deliberately zoomed out to show that there was absolutely no one to be seen for hundreds of meters in any direction.
Apparently, Trump received a visit from the very same "invisible person"—the kind of encounter he had previously mocked Joe Biden for supposedly having.

Ukraine was winning the war, so Trump kneecapped Ukraine to help Russia.
I wish it weren’t that simple, but it is. Our president is in bed with our enemies.
Donald Trump has a dementia driven mental breakdown on live tv today. Slurs. Incoherent rants. Starts talking about make believe things. He appears to be hallucinating at times.
This is getting really pathetic.
