Officers are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Clinton Avenue. At approximately 7:50 PM on 9/4/2024, officers responded to a call on Clinton Avenue, regarding a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon their arrival, they found a male victim with a gunshot.

The Lancaster Police Department, the Multijurisdictional Violent Crimes Task Force, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, and the Lancaster County Coroner's Office are all involved in the investigation.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to MUSC-Lancaster Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Jelani Jackson of Lancaster, SC. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for the victim.

21-year-old Jimmy Kenneth Knight of Lancaster, SC was served with a murder warrant by Detectives from the Lancaster Police Department. The warrant was served today around 8:30 a.m. at the Lancaster County Detention Center, where Knight was already in custody on unrelated charges.
