Karen Bass has instituted a self certification program for architects to speed up the rebuild of houses in Pacific Palisades. But of course, in typical government fashion, they have made it crazy for an architect to go into this program. First architects must pass a test which they have to study for and maybe heavily for depending on the rigorousness of the test. Secondly if the architect self certifies a project for a client it sounds like the liability falls entirely on the architect and away from the city. What architect is going to assume added liability for a project?
