Shebeshxt and one other caught with contraband after his friend on the outside shared a screenshot of a video call behind bars
Limpopo rapper Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke is currently in custody and awaiting trial for dates in February at the Polokwane Magistrate court. 17 to 19.
The Ambulance rapper is charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property, and two further counts of attempted murder
While awaiting trial, Shebeshxt found himself in trouble again when authorities allegedly caught him and another with a cellular device and “drug-related items.”
It is alleged that authorities caught wind of the situation after his friend and musician on the outside, named Flower from the group Dhem Scott, shared a screenshot where he had allegedly been on a video call with Shebeshxt and posted it on social media. Authorities saw it and rushed to the cells.
Although he was unable to reveal the names of the prisoners awaiting trial, Limpopo Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the incident of two individuals who were caught with contraband.
“There are certain protocols that need to be followed once this sort of thing happens with awaiting-trial prisoners. We need to follow those procedures. I can, however, confirm that two individuals were found with cellphones and apparatus related to drugs between 28 and 30 years old. Further details will be revealed,” Ledwaba said.
In South Africa, a person awaiting trial (a remand detainee) found in possession of a cellphone faces both immediate administrative punishment and potential criminal charges, as cell phones are strictly banned as contraband in a correctional centre.
