The Royals are about to be 3-9 and have not scored six runs in a game since Hawaiian Bro's chickened out on their original deal. Calling this the curse of the Kilauea Chicken.
The new Royals City Connects had potential, but a few choices in the final design just caused the whole thing to be a miss. I’d tweak the hats/helmets to be full fuchsia or a tricolor panel. Socks needs to be completely blue.
In honor of all the closer intros, I want to lay claim that had I not peaked as knuckleballer in little league, my closer intro song would be Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.

Royals fans have been pointing out Estevez’s stuff/velo issues all spring. Incredible for the org to roll with him and be so incrdibly wrong incredibly wrong at the absolute first opportunity.
I’m sure there are other guys that fit the mold beyond the ones that I listed, but those were the ones that immediately came to mind.
Lawlar is probably the most interesting to me. Royals coveted him and were rumored to be ready to take him if he slid one more spot in the draft
An interesting path for KC to consider would be to trade Bubic for ML ready 2B prospect or post hype guy. Players that could fit this mold with their BTV value listed (Bubic is 16.4):
J. Lawlar 20.6
B. Matthews 10.1
K. Campbell 19.4
T. Troy 4.3
J. Triantos 9.3
M. Arroyo 20
If you can flip Bubic for a guy with team control it could have risk that it hurts you a bit in the short run, if the player doesn’t develop into a Major Leaguer, but the upside is so much higher than what you have that I think it’s worth a shot.
Royals should be all over this.
BTV has
Robert at -5.9
Kolek at +5.9
Have CWS pay 25-50% of his 2026 salary.
Robert is a great fit for the roster as constructed. If the bat happens to rebound you have a team option to bring him back in 2027.
Next up for the Chicago White Sox after the Munetaka Murakami signing:
They still would like to move CF Luis Robert for pitching depth and are engaged in talks with the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds.
At the same time, picks are still leveraged in a way to support long term parity.
Instead of a lottery event with ping pong balls. You now engage fans deeper into the season and create another property to sell television rights and tickets to.
My proposal:
- All 14 non-playoff teams play in a single elimination in Las Vegas immediately following season before playoffs.
- Seed teams based on record.
- Winner gets top draft pick.
- Championship loser gets 2nd, etc
The NBA tells its 30 franchises today that the league has undertaken a renewed review of league policy changes concerning "tanking" -- such as potential modifications to rules regarding Draft pick protections, revised Draft lottery rules, and other approaches.
- Incentivize players in the non-playoff tournament with bonus, organizational incentives are obvious
This structure creates a league where every team is incentivized to always be trying to get better.
