Physiotherapist at Western Health, Melbourne, Aus. PhD candidate at Monash University. Research focused on training for physiotherapists working in the ICU
Congratulations @Michelle_Monash and team on this important SR/MA. For me, reinforcing more than ever that implementation of EM needs to occur in an individualised consumer centred manner taking into account the balance of personal values and wishes of patients and families.
Here's an open access link to our recently published SR/MA of early mobilisation. It seems possible that early mobilisation both increases the risk of death and adverse events & improves function in patients who survive.

ICU pts lose 2% muscle mass per day in the first week of admission. We likely need safe interventions that start very early to have a good chance of preventing ICU acquired weakness.

Fabulous work led by @Michelle_Monash. Early mobilisation is likely to improve physical function in survivors at 6 months but may increase adverse events and mortality. Further work needed on optimal patient selection, dosage and timing to balance risks and benefits.
Excited to be able to share my latest work. Another piece of the puzzle in unpacking how we optimise early mobilisation in ICU. More to come! @chodgsonANZICRC@DogICUma@DrRebeccaLane https://t.co/X7D9URKpVt
Excited to share the publication of our study which aims to improve standardisation of training and skills recognition for ICU physios in Aus and NZ! @HainesKimberley@chodgsonANZICRC@Aus_CC Thankyou to our fabulous Delphi panel.

@TangClarice Took me over a year to just get in the door for an M Phil (now upgraded to PhD)! Had supervisors keen to take me on but admin staff saying I needed to undertake a postgraduate coursework degree before they would consider my application!
As we go into surge, many ad-hoc teams will form.
Now more than ever effective communication, teamwork, respect is needed.
Everyone is trying their best, itโs important not to make assumptions about others skills/training/experience, if unsure - ask

Fantastic work led by Dr @MYTWang as part of his just passed PhD (๐๐๐): Level 1 evidence that functional rehab is the way to go in ICU.

Thanks to my supervisors, Michael Cantoni and @eemensch, and all involved over the past 4 years of my PhD journey.
Excited to see this published. Thankyou to @HainesKimberley for the opportunity to contribute. @chodgsonANZICRC and @DrStefan2 it was fantastic to work on this with you both. Looking forward to reading the other chapters now!
After a tough year in the ICU community, itโs great to see this book published. Thanks to co-editors @Jomcpeake22 @ICU_Recovery. Thanks to @iwashyna for opportunity. Thanks to the phenomenal authors who delivered despite global pandemic
