@rob_yong_@partypoker PP should lower the rake in cash games at every stakes by a lot. More money in the hands of players mean bigger guarantees in tournaments over time. Bigger guarantees in tournaments attracts more deposits. PP has everything to gain and not a whole lot to lose in my view.
The only two ways to coordinate human societies at scale are free markets and physical power.
Any ideology rejecting free markets is just advocating for power.
Socialism, communism, and fascism all converge to the same endpoint - rule by the biggest thug.
Think of inflation as a tax. All government spending must be paid for by the public. If the government doesn't collect their money in taxes, the Fed prints money to confiscated their purchasing power instead. Anyone calling for higher inflation is really calling for higher taxes.
Being well-informed only ruins your day.
Staying up-to-date on current events is overrated.
Unless you make money from the mischief, your quality of life goes down as your news consumption goes up.
@simonsarris Two of the greatest companies. Can their valuations hold up in the face of a default cycle and an economic depression? What's interesting to me is that so many sectors of the stock market didn't even get fairly-valued-to-cheap during that little crash we just had.
France and Spain now have essentially closed today. The UK, Oz, Brazil, Switzerland and the US to follow next week, Im sure
If you don't yet get it, this is the biggest economic event of our lifetimes, and it is not clear that its a V-shaped 6 week thing. I very much doubt it.
I received the following text from an ER doctor in NYC this morning. It underscores how bad things might get and how important it is to isolate now, if possible. Here's the text: "Please spread the word to all of your nyc friends that this situation is sooooo bad!!!!..."
Good example of elite thinking. Here's reality:
1. Zero rates don't work. 2008-2015 proved that with 2.2% growth v. 3.5% trend.
2. Negative rates don't work. Contra academia, people save more, defer spending.
3. Fiscal policy doesn't work when debt-to-GDP > 90%. Have a nice day.
Bernie's strategy of appealing to the segment of the population that is least likely to show up on election day did not work out. We might never know if his plans for the country were better than his election strategy.
Many countries can't afford a strong response to the #CoronavirusOutbreak because a prolonged contraction in economic activity would expose their Ponzi scheme. That's why China is lying about its numbers, and that's why other countries pretend it's like a weak version of the flu.
@Mr_B_OB It does and it doesn't. I think social media is still a place where people encounter new and interesting ideas despite tailored suggestions. People were probably as dogmatic or more in the past, but we didn't know it.
Stock market isn't even down 10%. Not even a correction yet. BTW the Coronavirus was very much under control in Italy and Iran a week ago. Problem is governments can't fix a pandemic by printing money!
The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!
