Sad to hear today of the passing of Dame #PenelopeKeith#TheGoodLife S3, Ep 5 (1976)
Here's Dame Penelope in arguably her most well known role as snobbish Margo Leadbetter trying to get her wind-break moved.
Keep sticking it to them Margo!
Dame Penelope Keith has sadly passed away.
This stairway sketch from the 1977 Morecambe & Wise Christmas Special is still one of the funniest things ever shown on TV. You can see all three trying (and failing) to keep it together. An absolute classic.
@timfarron I too am a Cumbrian, Carlisle the border city born and bred. I too am British first and English second, but I could have Scottish ancestry. Being a canny border Cumbrian with reiver blood I always cheer on Scotland when it suits me.
Morning all.
I think with the Defence Secretary and Armed Forces Minister resigning yesterday, this clip from Yes Prime Minister is very apt.
Enjoy.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sir Lindsay Hoyle is livid about rumours the government will publish the Defence Investment Plan on Friday, when MPs are not sitting.
Says he would be "appalled" to see the plan announced without a statement to the Commons first and makes a direct appeal to No10:
"That would be an utter disgrace and an utter kick in the face to members of this House.
....
"Once again, it seems to me that we are becoming second-class citizens with the Government. I don't want that to be the case, and I hope I am proven wrong."
@drlukeevans On a humorous note I think 'the hostage' is usually a Govt. whip. With the way things have been over the last few days if I was 'the hostage' I would just ask if I could stay there.
@JamesCleverly The gentleman sitting behind him this morning wearing the orange lanyard was his Civil Service union rep. He wouldn't be drawn on personal HR matters.
Starmer at #PMQs wasn’t only time I had to straight-talk to try and get a straight answer this week.
I asked 2 Defence Ministers if they will order British-built Typhoons.
Didn’t want to answer question & deployed Starmer waffle technique.
Labour take the public for fools 😡
@JamesCleverly Quite right !! I think more of you need to pile in and pressurise the PM for answers. A lot of us expect proper answers not just political posturing.
@A_J_Snowden@KemiBadenoch Well said !! He is there once per week to be accountable to the House. What kind of Parliament would it be if every Minister when questioned behaved like that. 2 weeks in a row the Speaker has said it is PMQs not Opposition Qs. Persist with the good work !!
