I don’t think people realise what we’re witnessing right now. Perhaps those behind their phone screens who are not in Tehran may never understand, but the atmosphere here is crazy.
People are coming to Tehran from all over the world; from Russia, Brazil, Norway, Germany, … to attend the farewell ceremony for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the martyred leader of Iran.
Many from Tehran have made their homes available to visitors and many are on the streets with their own money giving people services such as free tea, food, … many are volunteering.
Million, and I truly say MILLIONS are coming in and out the Prayer hall to pay their respects to the martyred leader.
The surrounding areas OUTSIDE the prayer hall were PACKED and filled with people this morning during the prayers, thankfully with no incidents.
A family member of mine is among the volunteers inside the prayer hall helping who’s been sleeping there since friday and has not left the area.
Many people (that I personally know as well) who never attended a public march, decided to attend this one for the love of their leader.
The magnitude of this event is beyond any words honestly.
Note in this photo how prepared the Iranian government was for this historic event, accommodating millions upon millions of its people with misting systems to address record high summer temperatures. Contrast this with the dozens of people who passed out from heat stroke at Trump’s American State Fair celebration yesterday. The images coming out of Washington DC and Tehran this weekend will show an empire in dramatic decline juxtaposed with a proud, ascendant nation united in the continued struggle to safeguard their sovereignty.
WATCH: Iran appears to have paired each foreign delegation at Khamenei's funeral with a politically targeted Quranic verse.
Saudi Arabia received a verse about two armies meeting in battle, one believing, one not.
Türkiye got a verse elevating those who fight over those who "sit."
The Lebanese government heard a verse about people refusing to sacrifice if asked.
Hezbollah was told "do not weaken or grieve — you are superior."
Hamas received the verse honoring men who fulfilled their covenant with God, "some have died, others are waiting."
Yemen's Houthis got a verse praising believers who fought without weakening.
Qatar received a verse about forgiveness and divine favor, read as a nod to its mediating role.
really boring tried argument. Football is more than government’s co-optation of it. Every single government will try to claim football victories, Egypt isn’t an outlier. God forbid a population living under 30$ a month tries and finds joy in the nation’s beloved sport. Plus we’re a country with a history of attempts by fans to reclaim football for the fans to the extent that they were killed and jailed for it. To try and frame football in the country as a something that the state only owns is absurd to me.

Absolutely none of the recent DSA candidates would have won were it not for Hamas’ prison break from their concentration camp - which makes it all the more infuriating that so many of those electeds condemned the very Palestinian resistance that made their electoral path viable.
