Last night, the dictator of #Togo, @FEGnassingbe, successfully orchestrated a legislative coup. His self-constituted parliament, filled with his siblings, nephews, cousins, and cronies, adopted a new constitution. Under this new constitution, he will no longer be elected by the people but appointed by the parliament.
Faure Gnassingbé has thus eliminated the last slim chance of being voted out of office, intending to die in power like his father, who ruled #Togo for 38 years.
Reflecting on the past 40 years of resistance, abductions, massacres, and executions that culminated in the adoption of the 1992 constitution—the only one ever ratified by the citizens in a referendum—my heart aches.
While the day just got brighter in Senegal, the night has grown darker in Togo.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye was in jail few days ago; imprisoned by the outgoing president of #Senagal who wanted to remain in power illegally. The Supreme Court intervened. Yet, tonight he is in the brink of becoming #Senegal’s next president. Give #Africa a chance ant it will shine!
A SPECIAL GIFT FROM ME TO YOU!🇨🇲
I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard someone lost a loved one because they had uncontrolled diabetes. Proper nutrition is key in diabetes management. This masterclass is going to be so richly packed with information that will save lives.
The level of destruction of that fire is insane! The whole 6-7 rolls of tailoring and provision line is down to ashes, and stops only after the roll by the left main gate of the market! People are crying and shouting. Some shops still have flames.
Oh Bamenda, the tears!
It was indeed a pleasure meeting with the British High Commissioner to Cameroon @BarryLowen@robaway123 Our time in Belfast, UK at the @OneYoungWorld summit shaped our ideas and we are glad we could share it with you all.

Her excellency @LibomMinette , Digital week is over and now is time to talk about work on the ground. What would be good for Cameroonians whose rural population has only 15% Internet coverage (not mentioning the “urban” pop bare connectivity) would be an announcement as below.
The act of terror perpetrated in Mamfe, killing dozens of innocent civilians in a most despicable, barbaric manner, must be investigated and those responsible brought to justice.
More than anything, we must #EndAnglophoneCrisis and stop the cycle of violence.
This week scholars from @CheveningFCDO, @MarshallScholar and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission came together to celebrate completing their post-graduate degrees in the UK.
